Hi, this is the Daily Thread for tuesday:j 25th January. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

Gosh up early today!
i fell asleep last night at 9,45-just as the chelsea bolton game was starting! so i got about 10 hours sleep. İ didnt feel tired but hey ho i didnt want to see droba's great goal!--thats a way of boring all your girls!
The cleaners are here today -finally--they were due yesterday but cancelled--my wife has a huge pile of ironing ready for them--there are 2 of them and they work 8 hours on any task needing doing aside from the deep clean of the place.--the cost is 42 quid which is so not Os but Mrs de works hard for 12 hours a day 6 days a week and needs her rest on Sundays--men are not permitted to clean in Turkey because we are deemed useless at it!--the cleaners do really slog and do a spring clean twice a month--they scrub all the rugs by hand etc---i just have to wait at home to let them in which usually makes me late for lessons.
Quiet day for me i think-i just have to go to the bank and check my funds that are transfering are in from the uk--the new car will arrive and need paying for on Friday so its cutting it fine.-i have them coming in pounds and they need warning to have enough pounds in the bank so i can withdraw them!mfw'11 No68- 55k mortgage İO--little to nothing saved! i must do better.0 -
Morning Halight and those who follow.
Hope you are feeling a bit better.
I have the day off today, but i got up with OH. He will hopefully find out today if he's working away for the rest of the week. I have a feeling he will but we shall see.
I plan to gut the kitchen today and super tidy it. Will take the dog for a long walk, but he's fast asleep at the moment. Also need to clean out the rabbit, and do some exersize.
Hugs to all who need them.

Morning halight and others to follow!
I'm just the same, really didn't want to get out of my cosy bed this morning!
Fairly mild here, might not wrap up so much to walk in this morning, I was boiling when I got halfway there yesterday!
Lamb burgers sounds so yummy even at this time, may get some lamb mince next time I'm at the butchers - I don't normally think of it. Meal plan is mixed up already this week - same foods different days - tonight is going to be pasta with red pesto and lo chicken. My non-recipe soup was good for lunch yesterday, which is good as I have enough for the week!
Had an email from my dad this morning (well he sent it late last night) telling me that my mum has had a further op (she had a colostomy about 20 months ago), they have taken out another piece of bowel. She should recover well so they say, they were trying to decide what to do with her after - apparently she really needs ICU but whilst there is a bed there is no nurse for her!! So she may get transferred to a different hospital. Hopefully everything will turn out well, I am trying not to worry too much :undecided0 -
Morning all
Hope everything goes well for your Mum PG.
Hugs to Nic, my ex did a similar thing when he hit his late 40's.
Hubby's been dropped at the station with his pack up, breakfast eaten & fish fed.
I hope my paper delivery arrives early today otherwise I have a day of thumb twiddling ahead of me, the Bursar is playing silly bu**ers because she lost the argument over my eyetest!
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester

Morning :hello:
I'm slowly spending the bonus money on loo rollI had to decide whether to take it out of the account so mr tru can't touch it (he'll spend the odd tenner here, fiver there if it's available, if there's no money he's happy not to buy bit and pieces) or start stocking up. I've made space upstairs for toiletries and cleaning stuff, once the kitchen is in properly there'll be loads of space for dry and tinned food.
Talking of the kitchen, what a nightmare. Mr tru broke a corner off the new sink, I bought some Araldite so I hope that fixes it. We went to plumb the sink in, the fixings aren't standard size so we couldn't connect the waste pipe. We walked into a plumbing shop holding the part, before we said anything the man behind the counter said 'Don't tell me - Ikea. I've got just the thing for you'The hot tap is connected, the cold isn't because the pushfit connector we used to extend the pipe has a washer missing. I have to wash up in a bowl then empty the water outside. I can't find a worktop I like. Half of the (built by me) units are in the kitchen, half are in the lounge. The cutlery is in it's old drawer on a chair in the kitchen, I have no idea where the tea towel/dishcloth drawer is.
I'm going shopping today. I usually use a small trolley, but as I'm stocking up I'll be using a big one which I don't get on with at all, lol. So be careful if you're shopping in Morrisons in Abbeydale this morningBulletproof0 -
Morning all,
Looks like another good day weather wise, I got three loads of heavy washing (jeans etc) dry yesterday, think I will wash the dogs beds today.
Mum is very down I tried to get her down yesterday for a coffee, I think she is depressed, she is crying an awful lot over my dad, and has no energy, we are off to see dad later on, which will hopefully put her mind at rest a bit. She is off to see her sister in a few weeks so that might lift her.
Cant hoover today as mum still has my hoover, so will do the rest, and leave that till later in the week.
I made some milk tablet yesterday, and while I did not have any, due to LC, I licked the spoonand burnt the end of my tongue :rotfl:serves me right, OH loves it though, as do all of his work mates.
Talking of OH, he went up to lay on the bed at 6.30 last night and got up and 6.30 this morning , he can sleep for england that man.
I lost 6lb in the first week of LC :T very pleased with that, I have 5lb to go till I am at my ideal weight, then I just need to maintain it, wich is easier said than done with me :rotfl:
Chicken in a garlic creamy sauce tonight, dd will have quorn, and I will do them rice with theirs, I will have a salad.
Have good days all xx0 -
Thanks for starting the thread Halight. Morning to you and De and all to follow.
Shall be having Spaghetti with meat ragu for dinner. Lunch will be beef & veg balti soup with hm bread.
Doesn't look like I'll be working today, but that is good - so long as I get myself in gear to use lots of energy and time on the house.
Not too cold at the moment, but very miserable - dark & damp.
Will make another loaf of bread. DGSs loved having the fresh loaf when they got in from school yesterday. Yesterday's loaf will probably be finished at lunchtime. If there is any left I will freeze as breadcrumbs:)
Hugs and/or high fives to you all as appropriate, Silver xOutside of a dog, a book is man's best friend. Inside of a dog it's too dark to read.

Morning all
Dark and not sure about the temperature as haven't ventured outside yet.
Quiet evening last night, just as well really as work was busy yesterday, lots of unhappy people! Today may be quieter.
Dinner from the menu plan last night was fish, chips/jacket pot, beans/vegetables - always goes down well in this house! DH and I watched Most Haunted that we had sky+, second part - bit scary, but I love watching. BM went on last night too, so boys have had HM bread toasted for brekkie. Dinners will be quickies tonight as DS1 has Cadets, we will have LO roast pork etc.
Whole day at work today then just half day tomorrow, then off again until Monday, yay!
Not much else to say really, keep safe and well everyone, hugs to those that need them.

Morning all, i think every one is in need of a big hug today myself included. I feel slightly nauseus and have a achey neck but i'm sure i will live, oh and DD2 has gone back to bed feeling rubbish. Lasagne for dinner tonight- have a stock pile of mince as it was on offer at Lidl at the weekend.
De1amo you made me smile thinking of Turkey- i'm so looking forward to my holiday there, wishing my life away in the process.0
