I shall look out for the turkey sausages! I love sausages, so they would be nice!

Been doing okay today, went snowboarding for an hour this morning and burnt 500 extra calories, which means I've eaten quite a bit today!

Felt rough though! Really weak, tired and cold.. I think it's the lack of sugar making me feel bad :(

I got through the day though and hopefully tomorrow will be better all round.

Went shopping yesterday, so I have a few new things to eat. Got some eggs for the first time in ages, so I'm going to start having some of those to get more protein in and give me a wider choice of breakfast, rather than cereal all the time.. :)

Still need to exercise more, but after snowboarding I just felt so drained..been 3 times in the last week, so maybe it's just been too much for me when I'm starting out on the diet.. It all helps though, just find it hard without my usual sugary drink beforehand. I want to get out of the energy drink viscious cycle though, so I just need to keep trying.

Had some wholemeal bread today, not had bread since I started, felt stodgy and I felt really drained afterwards.. might be something to look into later on. I've always thought bread made me sluggish.

Eric - Thanks for the info on low carb. I've not started yet, hopefully in a week or two I might give it a good shot. I did Atkins a few years back and to be honest, I hated the smell of fried food all the time, but I know that I can eliminate carbs without frying everything. Just not quite strong enough to stick at it right now lol... I've had loads of carbs today, according to my foodfocus diary, so I need to make it more protein.

Also, I'm not eating enough at breakfast, tend to have 250 calories and the rest goes on a bigger lunch and snacks.

Do you think breakfast, lunch and dinner should be the same size? calorie wise?

hi GEEGEE8 - I gave up bread around Oct/Nov and feel so much better for it - I did not have a huge amount of weight to lose but felt so sluggish, bloated, hadstomach problems and had terrible sugar cravings. I usually have porridge for breakfast and have oatcakes an peanut butter...not touched a chocolate since xmas (and not felt like it my palette seems to be more savoury now)
I had read the GL diet book and am very vaguely following that..I eat loads more nuts and seeds and also stopped fizzy drinks (was a bit of a diet coke addict) Never feel hungry and have lost 1.5st and feel so much better physically...always a bonus when the waistband gets loose!
Good luck and keep going :)

Thanks Caz, that's good to hear! and well done on the weight loss :D:T

I've stayed away from chocolate and fizzy pop, both of them I used to have daily.

I'm feeling a lot less fuzzy headed in the morning now :D

I do think I will be cutting down on carbs soon, just need to make a proper plan for it first.

I'll have a look at that book you mentioned.

    Gem :)

    Food for yesterday!

I had an extra 500 calories to eat due to snowboarding.

    Breakfast -
    Banana - 105
    Go ahead bar - 141

    Lunch -
    2 x Hovis deli roll (wholemeal) - 374
    Ham - 62
    Tomato - 5
    Margarine - 51
    Lettuce - 0
    Go ahead bar - 171

    Dinner -
    Potatoes - 244
Weight Watchers shepherds pie - 290 (just using the last of them up)
    Bisto - 75

    Snack -
Options Hot choc (Hazlenut - yummy!) - 40

Total 1683 Calories, and had 176 spare to use.

    Exercise:
    70 Minutes snowboarding
15 minute walk (to the garden centre)

Was REALLY hard work yesterday. I felt like rubbish and although I didn't feel hungry much or crave sugar, I think that's why I felt bad.

Feeling better today though, so fingers crossed it's a better day and my body is learning to keep it's opinions to itself :D

Oh, and I also ate an inhumane amount of carbs yesterday! probably why I felt bad, so today it's eggs for breakfast and try to reduce those carbs !

sounds like you're doing well, especially with the exercise, i need to up mine a bit. im feeling very despondant today, the scales show a 2lb gain, which is inexplicable. i have been averaging around 1400 calories a day over the past 3 weeks, my bmr is 2320, so that should work out to a 2lb a week loss. i cant understand it and feel really low about it, the gain is since thursday when i last weighed myself. im not due on or anything so cannot work out whats happened:(

Do you stick to low fat? I know with the foodfocus, it counts fat but doesn't put a limit on it.

Generally on low fat/calorie diets aren't you meant to stick to less than 4grams of fat in everything? I know for breakfast I had eggs and beans with sliced tomato, and it was 18 grams of fat!!

Otherwise, I reckon if you have stayed at those calories, then it could be that you are just holding onto it, it'll have to come off eventually! lol.. keep at it, it's your body trying to fool you!

yes and no really. in the first week or so, i noticed that the levels of fat were very low, but it has fluctuated and maybe the last couple of weeks have been higher in fat, but conversly lower in calories. maybe its that?

just checked, the last 7 days have higher fat that previously and lower carbs, maybe i dont respond to that very well?

Maybe that's it then? It's hard to know sometimes and leaves you feeling rubbish.. :o

I need to start watching the fat content of things myself, maybe set a daily limit? so you can still enjoy your favourites that you are used to, but not overdo it? Maybe 30-35grams? I think that's what I'm going to have to start doing soon too.

I just ordered a the Wii Fit game.

  • Sounds like you are really getting in to this :D I can recommend Quorn sausages they can be cooked from frozen and are a good source of protein ;) Personally I would steer clear Of Go Ahead Bars or any other kind of cereal/healthy bars cause they can nearly be as bad as normal biscuits. Keep going x
