I watched the biggest loser and I think I would have been big enough to go on there. That really did upset me. Although I don't look as big as them, I bet I probably am.

as ive got heavier and heavier i cant watch those shows anymore. i used to watch them secretly pleased i could say 'im fat, but im not THAT fat'

now they just look like me

i couldnt watch worlds heaviest man recently or read the threads on here about it
  • I haven't eaten sugary foods for over a year (cakes, biscuits choc etc) I thought, for me, it was the best thing to do. I ate so much when I look back now it was pretty digusting. I had fairly bad sugar cravings but never gave in, even once. I've dropped over 40lb and feel great. I go to the gym about 3 times a week and eat healthy, this works for me. Everybody is different but the one thing I would say is look at it long term, most people seem to want a 'quick fix' and more often than not the weight goes back on. Good luck and keeps us updated with how you are doing x

Slowly suicide certainly puts it into perspective, and makes you realise that 'it's only food' and why ruin our lives over it.

I must admit, I've felt very uncomfortable watching Biggest Loser, I just feel like that's me, or will be in about 1-2 stones time.

My boyfriend said when it came on 'How on earth did they get to that size?!', I felt so embarrassed because I know he didn't mean 'me', but to me, I'm not far off that..

I have aunties that are big, and I have photo's of them at my age and they are slim. I really don't want that to happen to me. My mum has been a yoyo dieter all her life, but is at a size 14-16 generally.

Only a couple of years ago I was slimmer than both my mum and my sister, and now I'm the heaviest :(

I have to put the past behind me though and change for the better. No-one can do it for me, and the past is only holding me back.

Oooh, I sound all philisophical don't I? lol.

    Thanks Runnerbean!

Sugar is my arch nemesis and the sugar highs and lows I get are awful. I guess that is what it feels like to be a diabetic, which is scary :o

Well done on the 40lbs! My aim in total is going to be 70-80lbs, but that is a long way off yet!

I have learnt a lot in the last few days about 'quick fix' diets, and I'm going to try and keep realistic and just look at the long term plan x

well done. i did a walk yesterday which was a bit of a nightmare because the footpath was inpassable due to the mud and rain, so had to walk along the road with a skittish dog and national speed limit, did not enjoy that

today have been for a cycle ride, did 80 minutes but its only 'leisure cycling' which is under 10miles an hour, however the wind was against us all the way back and it was like riding through treacle. that has given me 479 calories!!!!!

    479 Calories is great! :D

I have got 170 for an hours housework lol. I still haven't been out on my bike yet! :o

I've had quite a large lunch today, and now only have 600 calories left for the day. Starting to worry it won't be enough haha... I'm sure it will be though.

Lost 3lbs now, I've been naughty in weighing myself too often, but I'll weigh on Monday and then leave it until the Monday after before weighing again.

I was big enough to have been the heaviest person on the US version for every season until number 9 and they make the UK contestants look anorexic :rotfl:

I am still struggling to control sweet cravings, hence the hot chocolate! Hopefully I can not have this today and reduce my calorie intake.

Otherwise I felt quite full yesterday and the day went okay.

Today I am aiming to drink more plain water and no hot chocolates! lol.

This is the problem with most diets, in that if you have an imbalance with blood glucose / insulin you still get rampant cravings for carbs which in the long term kills your will power.

This is why reduced carb diets can work so well long term because they return your insulin levels back to normal and the cravings go, it does mean you need decent will power for 2-3 weeks whilst you detox and an acceptance that whilst you are loosing weight you are just going to have to ignore certain foods.

makes life a lot easier in the long run thou

GeeGee, do you live near an asda? I have found in there (cant seem to find them anywhere else) own brand turkey sausages, they are fairly low in fat (i think from memory they may be lower than low fat sausages but i might be wrong). i do a lovely dinner where i brown these off in a big pan (no oil), then put in 3 sliced onions without oil, wait till they break down a bit, then pour in a mug of beef gravy,, put the heat high and thicken the gravy down and ensure the sausages are cooked. i then serve that with mashed celeriac, turnip and one potato (in the mash between 2). with green beans and brocolli, its a lovely filling 'stodge' dinner without the calories or many carbs. i usually have 2 or 3 sausages depending on what ive got left, each sausage is 99 cals
