    Hi all,
I haven't posted in a while either, but I've been reading along when I've had chance. Nice to see everyone's scan pictures!

Can't wait for my 20 wk scan, although I am a bit nervous about it. We're still undecided about finding out the gender, I'm convinced it's a boy and am tempted to find out if I'm right or not! We genuinely don't mind either way, but FIL is convinced its a boy too as his family only have boys apparently!

Been to visit my mum today and took a trip into mothercare just for a nosey, and ended up starting one of their baby plans to buy a pushchair and car seat! We'd been looking at their movix one as it had been reduced, but apparently it's sold out everywhere so ended up ordering a similar one instead. I still think it's a bit early (I'm only 18 weeks) but you can cancel the plan and get all the money back if you need to, so I thought it was worth it. With the baby plan, you have to pay 10% of the total cost when you open the plan, and pay it off at least 10 days before the delivery date. You can change what you've got on the plan and add/take away items on it, and if you give friends and family the code they can put money towards it too I think. The only downside is you have to everything in store, so you can't make changes or payments on your plan online or over the phone.

    Hope everyone is doing well!

Thanks sweaty Betty - SIL & BIL have been brought up being told what to do and see no problem with how she behaves although BIL was upset when she kicked off the day his daughter was born. My other SIL on hubby's side, thinks its disgusting and tells me to stand up for myself but I'm not confrontational and the one time I stood up to leave when she was bad-mouthing me, was when she hit me, in front of my 4yo - had minor internal bleeding for a week. Last year she opened up the fire guard and had our daughter standing against a real fire throwing wood on (my older child had a freak accident causing severe burns when she was little) so I stopped going round as had told her I didn't want Dd2 in fire. There are numerous incidents like this and hubby has asked his folks if we can sit down together and discuss it but she refuses. Meanwhile hubby goes round alone and my girls are left out of all family functions. X

That's awful - set the boundaries now or else she may repeat incidents IMHO. She shouldn't be assaulting you at all.

Bangton glad you are OK and hospital is taking care of you.

AFM trying to arrange antenatal classes and getting batted from pillar to post! wondering if they are really that important. 21+4

I had a horrendous MIL too. It's a terrible thing to say, but she died the week before we found out we were expecting which has made life easier. I'm not a nasty person - honest - but I couldn't get on with her. Sad that OH didn't get to tell her though about pregnancy.

Long story short, she felt that the world revolved around her & everyone went along with that for an easy life (OH would never stand up to her, neither would his sister). Therefore when I arrived on the scene - with opinions & took her boy away she didn't like it.

I hadn't seen her for years. OH made a round trip once a month to visit - more out of duty than enjoyment. I had decided that if we had a baby I couldn't stop OH taking it to visit - but this would have only happened at a point when I was OK for the baby to be away from me for a period.

She had said some terrible things in the past & probably would have wanted to just forget them in order to see her grandchild - but I wasn't prepared to do this without a discussion to understand why she had acted the way she had. Some people would just be able to forget/ put behind them, but the things she had said about me/ my family meant I wasn't prepared to do that.

So, I haven't had to resolve the issue like you, but my advise is for you to think about what the best outcome is for you & how can this be achived. I didn't like OH doing his visits as I felt it was part of his life that was 'compartmentalised' & excluded me but we had got to a point (after several arguments & tears) that this was the only way forward for us in the circumstances.

Flower - I would use the steriliser

Hugs to those having a frustrating time with OH's. Mine doesn't usually do too much around the house, but he has stepped up a bit recently (without me asking). I am fortunate that maternity pay is good (6 months full pay), so not having to do too much advance planning. I'm hoping to take 12 months off, but we'll see how that goes.

Started a discussion about names yesterday - what a responsibility choosing a name is!

Have signed up for pregnancy yoga starting next week. It's an NCT class. Have also signed up for a NCT ante natal class. It's in the evening whereas the NHS was an afternoon session.

AngelMommy, your MIL sounds horrendous! I think it is very good of you to see her at all. I dont think anyone would blame you if you put your foot down about contact with her.

Bangton, that must've been bery worrying, glad to hear it turned out to be nothing sinister. At least you dont have to abstain COMPLETELY ;)

Hi everyone, I had my 20 wk scan today in the hospital I had the cvs carried out at 11 weeks, which is about an hour away from my local hospital.

Ive been feeling like I have been leaking fluid a little, I was worried it was amniotic fluid leaking possibly because of the cvs, as it didnt seem to be wee as it was happening when I stood up from sitting or lying down. sorry for the tmi!

So I thought id ask the question and id have the scan and it would be all ok, but when i spoke to the woman she instantly said it sounds like your waters have gone! :( I thought at worst it would be a leak, that they would be able to monitor. I asked what will that mean and she said its never good this early on! :(

I had brought oh and his mum along for the scan (thinking a 20 wk scan would be nice and happy!) and I had asked them to wait outside while I had a little chat with the woman but they could see how white I had gone after coming out after having speaking to her, I hadnt wanted to worry them so I then had to explain in the waiting room, everything that she had just said, poor oh's mum didnt know what to say.

Well we had the scan they went through the whole anomaly scan, which just went over my head all i was concerned about was the fluid level and that was the last thing they checked! But they managed to see everything they wanted and all looked ok and the liquid level was good as well, but just in case they made an appointment at my local hospital for this afternoon to have an examination to have a look at where the fluid is coming from.

So we went from 1 hospital to my local hospital which is an hour away, had the examination but because they said my cervix was hard to find and they had to route around she managed to make it bleed while trying to get samples and have a look!
After everything we have been through with this pregnancy to get to this point and then to start to see blood, well my stomach just dropped. She did say it can happen because of friction against my cervix and that everything looked fine and they think the fluid is just normal discharge that increases in pregnancy, but they did take some swabs to test for infections just in case.

I read your earlier post bangton and I wonder if the blood from my cervix today is something similar to what you mention?

So a day that was meant to be exciting to see the little one again has turned into the worst day that we have had for a while, poor little one has been prodded, pushed and put through the wringer, all I feel like doing is curling up in bed protecting her!

We have another scan tomorrow in my local hospital as they wanted their own 20 wk anomaly scan as well, so hopefully tomorrow will be a lot calmer than today!

Sorry for offloading in one go, but I just wanted to get today off my chest.

Can i ask has anyone else noticed any sort of increased fluid/discharge now they are getting further along?

cleo, it sounds like a scary day but hopefully the fact your fluid levels are fine will mean there is nothing untoward going on. Great news that everything was good with the anomoly scan :D Hopefully the discharge will subside and allow you to have a nice relaxing 2nd half of pregnancy!

Cleo - poor you that sounds very traumatic. Hopefully all is fine and you can enjoy tomorrows scan. I've heard that some people do have lots of "fluid" that they worry its their waters going but it rarely is - I'm a little annoyed that they scared you like that if its common. Fingers crossed that all will be fine tmw and now on.

Hugs Cleo - sounds like a stressful day. Hope you are feeling better now. RE discharge - I deffo have more. I remember having to crack open the panty liners with my first pregnancy, and I have had to do the same here. And sorry for the tmi, but it's quite smelly imo - DH reckons he cant smell anything so maybe it's just me :rotfl:

Hi Ladies *waves* As usual I'm behind. Hope everyone is ok. 19 weeks today here and scan in 2 weeks - so looking forward to it. Felt my first kicks last week at 18+3 I think, but not so much since.

Was in BHS today, haven't been there in years, but fancied the restaurant with DD as it's quieter. We spent ages in the underwear and nightwear dept picking out appropriate maternity attire. DD was so well behaved and picking out pants and putting them back. Was lovely. Anyway, got some really nice non wired bras and button down nighties and they had some mahooosive granny knickers for after birth, but I held back on those for now :D

Cleofish sorry to hear you have had such a day of it, but glad to hear fluid levels are looking normal.

I have definitely had increased discharge in pregnancy - I've been wearing panty liners for ages now, as sometimes it was leaking through onto my leggings  (WAY too much TMI, but I know you from the ttc thread, where nothing is tmi... :D ) I think the reason you notice it more when you stand up from sitting or lying is because it kind of 'pools' inside you and then gravity does its trick.. nice. Obviously I'm no medical expert so don't want to give any advice, but just wanted to share my experience and that in my case it hasn't been anything to worry about.
