At least I would if I ever get into the clinic, been waiting 45 mins past my appointment time already
Is this your first consultant appointment? I've never once been in and out on time for mine, they always go over, wait till you have a GTT (if you have one) and they keep you sat there bored for 2 hours lol.You never know how strong you are until being strong is the only choice you have.

Nope second one, and 4th appt in antenatal dept, none of which have been on time!. 55 mins late this afternoon, and I was only in there for 5 mins! Really not sure the appointments are worth the wait. Plus she was no help about calorie intake, and suggested referring me to a dietician at my next appt in 8 weeks if I haven't gained anything by then.Little monkey born November 2012:jFroglet due March 20160 -
Welcome chirpychick:wave:
On the subject of names, we only have a first name for a girl, DH is insisting on a very old fashion name for a boy but there's no way we're having it! Our discussions are yet to reach second level (middle names)!
Are you sure we don't need any extra calories till the 3rd trimester ikkle/littlemoog/anyone else? I thought we needed it throughout the pregnancy?
I had my 20 week scan yesterday which was really cool. I remembered reading on the main thread that having skittles before the appointment helped to get an active baby during the scan so I did and it was great to see baby moving:j we got some great pictures too.
They moved me backwards thoughI thought I was 22+3 with EDD 14/10 but my EDD has been changed to 19/10. Not a clue what that makes me today. 21+5??
Still, I'm a very happy bunny:jBaby girl born 3rd October 2012:j0 -

Yeah I've got dietician referral written in my notes, but that was a while ago now and not heard anything about it and nobody mentioned my weight/eating since. I don't think they really communicate very well at the hospital I go to though lol.
I don't mind my long waits if I get to hear the babies heartbeat (although that didn't go so well this week) but we do have a doppler so can hear it at home, it's nice knowing your listening to the right thing thoughYou never know how strong you are until being strong is the only choice you have.

My midwife, consultant and 2 doctors have all told me to not eat for two as it's only at the last trimester when baby is gaining approx 1/2 a lb a week that the extra calories are needed.
If you think about it, the majority of weight gain during pregnancy is water from the amniotic sac and the placenta then approx half a stone for the baby. You never know how strong you are until being strong is the only choice you have.

So excited, my fetal doppler should come tomorrow:j
had been debating getting one for the last week or two but finally gave in for my own peace of mind (with bleedng etc).
I chose the Angel sounds one that can be used as early as 10 weeks.
I have quiet a bit of experience using them on patients as a student, so dont have any fears that i will get mixed up with placental flow etc.
cant wait to find bumps heart beat and share it with my daughter and hubby0 -

They're pretty useless at my hospital too, I think it's a common theme! She did listen to the heartbeat but it took ages to find as Beanie was wiggling about all over the place :rotfl: so when she found it it was only for about 5 seconds. When the MW did it at my 16 week appointment she let us listen for ages
I wasn't really asking for help with my diet, I think she misunderstood me! All i really wanted to know was if Beanie would get everything they need if I'm eating a varied diet but regularly falling a little bit short on calories. I have PLENTY of fat reserves for them to draw on and I don't want to force myself to eat more if they'll be ok if I don't. All I can find when searching online is that you shouldn't diet when pg etc, but I'm not trying to diet, just struggling to reach my maintenance target. I've been counting calories for about a year with a 1300/day target. I've now increased up to about 1700-2000/day, but the software I use reckons I need about 2300 to maintain my weight. Any thoughts anyone?Little monkey born November 2012:jFroglet due March 20160 -
bikelesschick - I'm suprised they moved your dates back. I thought that once you had your dating at the 12 week scan they stuck with it!
missyp123 - Enjoy your doppler. I love having mineHaven't used it too much, probably once every 2-3 weeks. I have the same one and found I could use it from about 8-9 weeks but i had to press really hard!

LittleMoog - I've been told that they don't encourage you to diet and lose weight whilst pregnant but if your a little overweight to start with then it's ok. Apparently, although there's no real research, a baby acts a bit like a parasite and takes all the goodness it needs first and then leaves the mum with everything else. If your worried about nutrients you could look at getting a pregnancy supplement xYou never know how strong you are until being strong is the only choice you have.
