No. 2?!?! No way! Not for a few years. I'm not in love with being pregnant thing at the moment so the thought of doing it again is too much for me. I'd like to have more than 1 child though so I guess I will overcome it at some point. I'd give my husband a swift kick in the balls if he made any suggestion about the next baby already.

The midwife centre receptionist told me the 16 weeks appointment only takes about 15 minutes so I'm prepared for a quick appointment. I know they'll take blood though as there is no nuchal measuring in nhs here (I think) and they check for downs risk at 16 week blood test.

Oh I'll be leaving a gap for sure to recover from this one. I have the same reservations as you though but I hope I'll get over them in time.

No bloods were taken at my 16 week appt- and they don't do the NT measurement here either. Hmmm its confusing how different the process is everywhere.

Claireloo - are we the same person?! Midwife today and scan on 1 April! What bpm did your baby have?

Hi everyone else! I think we'll be sticking to one bubs but you never know. I'd love a big family but as ever, money and practicality gets in the way.

Hope everyone enjoyed some pancakes yesterday x

Clarieloo - I get much more wound up when driving too. Don't seem to be more irritable in other areas of life though. My pet hate at the moment is people who change lanes on the motorway without indicating. This morning a huge camper van pulled out right in front of me. The outside lane was clear so was ok but if they had just indicated first I would have pulled out to make more space anyway, just without the panic.

Claire - Your OH sounds great. My husband had never seen a 'real baby' up close until my sister had one 4 years ago. I am also surprised at my own reaction to pregnancy. I thought I'd go OTT on research and doing things right but am actually feeling very detached and nonplussed. Almost too much actually. I'm very much "oh well. I'll just see what happens. Not much I can do about it". I'm just 14 weeks gone though so maybe it's taking a while to sink in.

Twi1ight I was a manic researcher at the beginning but it's eased off. I think it'll pick up again after the next scan because that's when I intend on hitting tge shops and eBay!

It's good to be chilled although I certainly wouldn't describe myself as chilled, just not manic!!

Would you like a really big family then jcr? I think you're really brave coping with 4 but then you're obviously a natural from the way you speak about your children. I always thought I would ideally like 2, and still do but who knows what life will throw at you:D

    .

i would love a big family and so would hubby , but i have to except it won't happen as i've had 3 sections already ( 1 emergancy breach, 1 over due and another breach but not emergancy) so i do understand i'm not gonna be able to keep going havign sections. but i'm the sort i'd never say never because if i feel accidently i would love it just as much as a planned one and it would be just as wanted.

i missed my 16 week A/N. down here A/N are only bp, sometimes babies heart beat and a wee test and talk about any q's might have. i had protein in last wee sample so i hope that all gonna be fine. i got my notes out my midwife left a left in there saying to phone to book appoint at 16w. so i'm having it ina 2 weeks. as she only does wed and i'm busy next wed.

as for reasearch, even with baby 1 i never read a book or did any reasearch. i had no idea on different pain methods or labours. i didn't want to know. ignorance was bliss in my case. what i didn't know i couldn't worry about.

This is exactly how I feel. I put it down to being so ill in early pregnancy and detaching myself emotionally but tbh I still feel the same now. I don't get overly excited about baby things, have no desire to watch things like OBEM, and I didn't cry or get emotional at my scans; but at the same time I know how much this little baby is wanted and loved so I'm not dwelling on my reaction to these things. I'm enjoying being so laid back though because its the complete opposite to how I normally am and its quite liberating in a way. And like you say its still relatively early days for us (I'm 17 wks), and who knows how you'll feel as the pregnancy progresses, so all anyone can do is go with the flow and cope as best they can with whatever is thrown at them.

jcr- sorry I didn't realise you had 3 CS births. I take it there is only a certain amount of them then that it is recomended a woman should have?

i'm not sure. i know of some who have had 5 or 6.

i guess if you had 3 and say that was the limit, if you fell preg accidently the hospital coulnd't make u get rid of baby.

but i guess as they class it as major surgery then there is almost gonna be more risk with the more you have.
  • hello ladies!

can i join in? :D i had my dating scan yesterday, all appeared fine just got to wait for the NT results. i've been moved forward from 12+5 to 13+3 though, i take it i now go with those new dates rather than my LMP?

    still not feeling real!

She never said :o But she did say it sounded normal so I guess that's all that matters. I had to ask specially for my scan before I go on holiday on 6th April and she could only get me in on 1st when I'll be 20 weeks exactly. That's so funny we've got matching appointments

Hi Little Angel  Yep go with 13 + 3 - lucky you I got put back a day. I know its only a day but its one day longer to wait to meet bubs.

It doesn't feel real to me yet either. Only when I look in the mirror and see a big tummy staring back at me I remember. Can't wait to feel movements inside which I'm hoping should be this week or next.
