Great news Ginvzt!! So lovely you are having twins, I half wish I was just to get having babies done and dusted as even though I've not had any complications I just want it over and done with.

PS I read your other post on the the big thread, and next time youre in i'd get them to take your BP. I've had mine taken everytime i've been in so not sure why they are overlooking that part for you... Especially if have a history of high BP as well :s

I'm stalking you all the way through your pregnancy as i'm so interested in twinnies!! So nice!!! :D

Good luck to laura and snoopy for your scans today!! How exciting!!

    Gops x

Don't mind you stalking me! I will make sure they take the BP next time, and we also discussed with OH of getting BP monitor for home as well.

I love that we are having twins, but as I was telling to OH, I only get 1 year off work this way, and the initial outlay is much higher (you have to buy double - car seats, cots, clothes, etc) as you can't just use them for one baby and then for the next one. You only get 1 maternity pay as well, which doesn't help with the finances. The government is going to get more taxes out of me in the long run, so it would have been nice that they considered increasing the SMP for twins - it is a much higher financial weight on the families. For example, we looked at the pushchairs. The one we are considering, including the first car seats, is just £1000. There are a few cheaper (We looked at Cossato side by side one yesterday), but they feel wobbly, to wide to move around comfortably, not suitable from birth, or tedious to fold/unfold, very heavy, or any combination of above. Oh, and some of them don't even last you the whole time (iCandy Peach blossom, lucky if it will go to 18 months in the back seat - it is out anyway, as the cost of that is over £1400!!!!!).

But - we are counting our blessings and we will deal with the money as it comes. We had a journey to get there, we are happy to have reached this far. We both earn reasonable salaries (and like spending them), we'll just need to cut down on things. As long as the babies are happy and healthy, nothing else matters!

Sorry, it seems I can talk for country...

  • Morning all - 24 weeks for me today :):):) yipee!

I don't feel well though. Had a fantastic pregnancy so far, wonder if it's starting to hit me now or if I have a bug. Went to bed with banging head, feeling sick and dizzy. Woke up fine but am now sat at my desk feeling dizzy and ligh headed. Have had low blood pressure so could be down to that.....

Good luck to all those having scans today.

    Have a nice day ladies.
  • Hi Ladies,

Had an awful morning. Everything was fine then at the end we were told the baby has an ecogenic bowel which could be a sign of a viral infection, CF or a chromosomal defect. All the Fetal medicine midwives were in a meeting till 11.30 so we have to wait for them to call us to arrange more tests and have a consultation. We are totally heart broken and trying our best not to worry. Its going to be a long Christmas.

  • Oh Laura, poor you, will not tell you to try not to worry as you are bound to. Try sit down, have a brew and put your feet up until you get the call, you could be worrying for nothing. Fingers crossed you get good news and the tests come back ok.

    Sending (((((((((((((((((((((((hugs)))))))))))))))))))))))))))))) x

Oh Laura I am so sorry, nothing useful to add really other than to say we are all here if you need any support at all.

I know it won't be possible, but try to relax as much as you can and re-assess once the midwives have called.

    Sending big hugs x x x x

:-( Laura just to echo what everyone else has said, sending lots of good thoughts and hugs, try not to worry (which I know is practically impossible but try to relax) too much. Hopefully when you get the call back they'll be able to give you more information and be able to get you in for more tests and a consultation quickly so you've got less time to dwell on what ifs.
    *lots of hugs*
