Oh, well you wouldn't like a little pack of them then! Remember this is our first bub and my mum's first grandchild so I'm sure we'll marvel at stuff you probably think is ridiculous. You're the experienced one so i have no doubt you're right but I shall continue cooing over every tiny thing. I'll no doubt agree with you this time next year!0

I did have my first baby too once, you don't just wake up one day with a house full.. and I still never used them, any outfit that you might want hanging usually comes with a hanger so buying extras is not necessary really.
If you want something to coo over... go for socks.. they are the cutest little things ever.

Hey Sparkle, glad you had a good eve. For clothes I got a few key items at the shops recently but I'm on an eBay hunt for the rest. I don't want to waste too much money on mat clothes but equally I do want to be comfy and feel I don't look too rough to be seen out in public!
My mum said it felt funny being in mothercare as she hadn't been in there for 27 years!
I'm personally not buying bits just yet but probably will start soon. I've got a baby box for mum and mil so I can see the bits they're getting. It's sweet that they're so excited too!0 -
Haha Pigpen! Socks, that'll be next then!0

Hi girls,
for anyone interested in re-usables, I got this link off the main PG board a few weeks ago
http://www.kittykins.co.uk/whichnappy
Loads of info on there. I have to admit, it left me a bit bamboozled.
I did order the P&P only Bumgenius all-in-one from BabaMe, which was offered in my Bounty pack. It's so cute! But probably takes ages to dry, and we don't have a tumble dryer, so I'll probably go for multi-layers.
Hope everyone had a nice week-end!
EDIT: and re: buying stuff: I got a good tip to start looking for / trying out prams before your bump interferes with your "normal" walking style, otherwise you don't get a realistic test-drive0 -
Awwww, baby socks. They really are the cutest. Definitely good to coo over.
Thanks for all your thoughts on telling my friend about being pregnant. I'm writing an email to her right now so she can have the time to digest it without being put on the spot. If I knew her better, I would phone as pigpen suggested because it's more personal. But I would never normally ring so it might seem a bit odd (and I'm a chicken). I really hope she gets pregnant soon as I'd love to have someone fairly close by to share it all with. My only other pregnant friend lives 200 miles awayLooking forward to getting to some kind of antenatal classes for that very reason. At the early pregnancy class at the midwife centre there were loads of women who looked to be of a very similar demographic to me.
Did someone mention sorting out clothes? I intended to do this sometime this weekend but had guests and haven't had a chance yet. Suppose I could do it now instead of passing time on hereI'm planning to sort everything into things that:
- still fit
- don't fit but I'd like to wear again in a year or so if possible
- not a chance in hell of fitting into again
Enjoy what's left of the weekend everyone!0 -
I hadn't even got most of my normal clothes out of storage from having the babyLB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0

Thanks for the cloth nappy info links. I'm thinking about them but wary that I often have great ideas for things I'd like to do but never follow up on them when it comes to the crunch. There's a bundle of unused but not brand new cloth nappies on ebay at the moment. They're collection only and quite near me so I'm keeping a close eye on them as if go for cheap then may be worth a punt. I'll keep you posted. Not telling you too much in case one of you steals them off me0
