Congrats on your little girl lola..... :D

I think it was M&P's I was in during Sept where the assistant said to me that if she were us, she'd wait til Christmas/New Year sales and but the pushchair then. I ruled it out as don't want to be trekking around shops with 4/5 weeks to go :rotfl:
We've spent so many hours already looking around for pushchairs so I'm glad we did it whilst I was still smaller and with less pelvis pain too. ;) That said, if I was due March, I would look around now, pick what I wanted and then wait til xmas/new year sales :)

Would agree with Twigpig, we spent hours going around what felt like hundreds of stores looking for our pram, and at the time it felt really early but boy am I glad now. It's all sorted and being delivered next month. The thought of going around now, would kill me.

If you know which pram you want though I guess it's not too bad, aren't they doing a deal on the sola at the moment? With car seat etc? Maybe I'm thinking of something else though :o

If you have a M&P outlet anywhere near, they always have past designs of the Sola for a good bit cheaper, the basic pram is the same, it's just the detail/colours etc which determine the price.

I'm another one getting stuff sorted early. not due until the end of April but I like to be organised and would get very stressed about things if we left it until later. We will be ordering the pram after our 16week scan on monday as long as all is ok and probably the cot bed at around the same time. We already know what we want so we might as well!

Tonight I'm going to see a local lady who does trial packs of washable nappies that you can hire for a couple of weeks once baby arrives to see which ones suit best. just going to have a look at the different types and get a better understanding of what is involved. It's a miracle that there's someone local doing this as I often see good ideas for things then find there's no-one anywhere near me who does them!! Miraculously our council also gives you up to £50 back on what you've spent on washable nappies too....about the only good thing they do do!!

I've been and had blood taken this morning to check my thyroid, the last ones they did were miles out and I'm not convinced the tiny increase in medication they gave me will be enough so I'll be glad to get these results back and see if it needs increasing some more.

Oh, just found this group, I've listed myself on the pregnancy thread but it moves too quick for me to keep up, this thread looks more up my street so I hope you don't mind me joining.

As this is my second I will not be buying anything until very near my due date/after baby arrives! I bought way too much stuff early last time although less than a lot of people and still didn't need all of it. Things I shouldn't have bought - breast pump, steriliser, blankets (ended up with too many), babasling, baby toiletries and probably other stuff as well that I've forgotten. Things I got as gifts that I didn't need - mosses basket, baby bouncer chair thing, bumbo, tummy tub (although it was fun for a short time) and others. People kept saying to buy before baby arrives as you will be too busy/tired afterwards but I was out shopping again in the second week so it wasn't that bad. Although there are obviously some things you should get before baby arrives like a car seat, vests and nappies you really don't need get too much. Sometimes it's better to wait and see what you actually need.

Ok, I've rambled now so I'll stop!

  • I agree Jenny - this is my second and so far I have bought nappies and a new suit to take baby home in. Got pram, cot, moses basket, neutral sleep suits and vests etc etc.

Congrats Lola - is lola your real name, I love Lola for a girl......

I am team yellow, due 29th March :)

No my real name isn't Lola its Lorraine, but my sister started calling me Lola and it kinda stuck!!

There is a deal of £50 off when you buy the Sola and car seat together, but I also want the carry cot so it's over £500. I'm hoping in the sales it'll be a more manageable price even though my parents are buying it.

Oh yeah :( forgot about the carrycot, mines came as a package so couldn't opt out of anything. I would definitely try the M&P's outlet, the one we went to even had a pram in, that the M&P store had and it was a good bit cheaper, they also run an extra 10% off days quite regularly.

We decided on the Sola, as it gets great reviews. Also got the sola carry cot top. Bought both 2nd hand (but immaculate) on ebay for £190 for the lot, and then bought a new overnight mattress for the carry cot from M&P for hygiene and to make it more suitable for over night/long sleeps.
Did you know you can use the Maxi cosi cabriofix car seat with the sola if you buy adaptors? The safety reviews for it are much better than the M&P equivalent car seat that you use with it.

I looked on Which and saw that Sola was 2nd best, the 1st pram the Uppababy I saw at the babyshow, but cannot justify the £550 odd for it and as its so brand new doubt wil find a decent discount.

I've looked on eBay, but can't find one near to where I live and I don't really want to travel too far. I'll keep looking I think :) but if not hopefully M&P will have a decent sale in the New Year.

  • Hi all,

We have got the Mothercare my choice in lime green as we thought it was a unisex colour, it has the 3 wheel chasis, car seat and carrycot which converts to a buggy later. We are both really tall and the big selling feature was the height as well as the adjustable handle, we do a lot of country walking and beach walking and it is sturdy, so won our vote. When we put it on our baby plan, there was quite a lot of money off, so think we got it all including cosy toes and parassol and rain cover for about £350!!! x
