Two more yellows duly noted! With DD I was due 12 Jul and worked until 1 July. Wish I had worked up until due date as I ended up 9 days over. With this one though I'll be finishing at 36 weeks as my work is a long way out on small untreated back roads and I'm not driving on ice so heavily pregnant. Plus I'm hating work right now! Its stat pay only.
Good luck for tomorrow flutterby0 -
My EDD is 22nd January, I'm working up until the 30th December, have then got three weeks annual leave and my maternity leave will start on the 22nd, providing I don't pop early...
Am already counting down the (working) days left to go (73)!!:j Debt Free 27.07.2011!! :j0 -
Just wondering if anyone can answer something that I've been pondering. My husband was prem- about 1 month early and was about 4lbs, whereas I didn't want to come out and was almost 2 weeks late.
Do you think this has any bearing on when my baby is due??
Reason I ask is I want to work right up until my due date as I'm the same as mozzyc, 13 weeks full then 26 weeks SMP. Plus I just moved house less than 2 months ago and my mortgage is double what it was before so money is quite tight.
If the baby is prem I really don't think I could cope going into labour in work, especially since I work in a male dominated place- I don't think they'd be very impressed!!!
Probably has no bearing at all, but if anyone has any clueGot married 13/11/10

The midwives say you tend to follow the same trend as your mother, maternal grandmother, etc. So based on that you'd be ok.
When you start to go into labour, you will probably have some signs beforehand (i.e. a show) and it will be a build up with early labour pains coming a while before active labour - so you probably wouldn't end up delivering on your workplace floor even if you went into labour at work! For most people there's a slow build up and you'd most likely have plenty of time to get home from work provided you have someone to drive you. The only thing potentially to worry about is that either your waters go or you progress really really fast. HTH0 -

I don't think that the birth patterns of the father tend to have any effect on the baby. It is alot more common for it to follow in a similar pattern to the mothers line. I.e you were late, but what about your siblings (if you have any!), does your mum know if she was late?
The only thing that would perhaps mean taking your hubbies prem into account a bit, is if it was caused by a medical condition that he had, that meant he had to come sooner. If it was just him pitching up a bit early, or his mum having high blood pressure etc, then i wouldnt really think about it!
I am working right up as well, but luckily i have christmas immediately before so i get time off without being on m/l. Is it possible for you to use a bit of annual leave before your EDD, so you have a small buffer without having to use your m/l? If you DID go into labour early, then your m/l starts from the day you deliver, regardless of your notified start date, and your company should give you back any holiday you had booked after the date baby arrives.Married 13/03/10 #1 DD born 13/01/12!!

I'm due the 22nd Feb and planning on working up to the 10th Feb, I would work to the 16th but I work in a school and its half term so I'll have to finish then. I've planned one of my biggest events of the year for my last day so lets hope I'm not early:eek: especially as my fiance won't be here, he's in the navy and will be at the start of a 7 month deployment, he gets to fly back around my due date for 2 weeks and then is off again till August.
We only get 6 weeks on 90% then its smpI'm planning on taking 9 months off, which will be really tough on the finances but I figure I won't be going out so I might save a bit of money and I'm already starting a nappy pile haha

If I go the same way as my mum then I'll be induced early... When pregnant with my brother she stopped gaining weight towards the end, then three years later with me she was actually losing weight so we were both induced... Not sure exactly how early though, I have asked her a million times but I always forget... I know I was only 5lb 6ozs though...:j Debt Free 27.07.2011!! :j0

Welcome across flutterby_lil  - Hope you have a great scan today
floatylight - Really hope that your bean comes at just the right time, when your OH is home. Will keep my fingers crossed for you.
mozzy - I'm thinking about finishing about 2 weeks before too, but the little devil in me wants to finish at xmas. I know it would be a waste of the 2 weeks extra though, and I can work from home, so I really could be sitting with my feet up and still getting paid for it before taking any of my leave :rotfl:TTC #3..........0 -
hello ladies...can I join in please. I
I’m a bit late to join I suppose since I as 20 weeks + 3 days today but better late than never. The thing is we’re in the middle of buying our first house as well and since I’m the organizer in the family, I’ve had that to cope with – not aided by the fact that my brain (OHs words not mine!) has turned to mush since I got pregnant!
I have my scan on 23rd September and we want to find out. We both want a girl but are convinced it’s going to be a boy. I’m from India and the grandma’s theory there is that if the mum is blooming, it’s a girl, but if she’s a bit under the weather, then it’s a boy. And I’m definitely not blooming! Am just about dragging myself into work every day. Fortunately I have a desk job and fairly relaxed workplace so I’m ok so far. My sympathies to those of you who have to be on your feet all day.
I’m taking maternity leave very early because I’m going back to India to have my baby. My mum is here with me at the moment but she’ll be going back next week and she won’t be able to come in February (baby’s due 3rd Feb.) I need my mum so am going back to India – plus I guess having grown up there I’m more comfortable with the medical system there. It’s not free but you get the same doctor throughout your pregnancy and there is a lot of support post-childbirth as well. I have 20 days vacation left so I will be taking it from 7th Nov and the maternity straight after that. Though I only get full pay for 6 weeks followed by 33 weeks SMP, I think I’ve saved enough for us to get through 12 months of maternity leave. And if we start running out of funds I guess I can always go back to work early.
I will catch up with the thread and get to know you all slowly but just wanted to introduce myself now. Good luck to everyone being scanned this week!Mortgage (original/ current):193,000 (23/09/11)/ £102,500 (07/11/2019)

Mouche the theory here tends to be if you're blooming it's a boy, and if you're under the weather it's a girl! People keep telling me I'm having a boy because I've not been sick or anything.
On the note of mothers labours etc, I was 5 and a half weeks early  I wouldn't mind going early, just not that early! The frontier is never somewhere else. And no stockades can keep the midnight out.0
