    Hey everyone,

Ok, I'm now driving myself completely insane looking at pushchairs...... there's so much choice!
I'm looking at the Oyster, Bugaboo Chameleon (although is a lot more cash) and the M&P Pliko Pramette. Been reading reviews for the last few hours and had a decent look in the shops today. Ideally would like something that can be used as pram and pushchair but needs to fold down quite small, as I have a small car and don't want to have to swap with hubby.

    What's everyone getting?
And does anyone have any advice on the above 3?
Any tips on what features you were looking for in your pushchair?

*Going slightly mad* .......... HUGE thanks :D

The bugaboo is hideous.. the oyster is over-rated from what I have seen.. and I love plikos so am a wee bit biased.. I have had plikos for years and years.. think I have had 10 or 11.. I actually have 2 at the moment :p.. though one is for parts as the back rest on it is broken.. I used it for DD5 until she was 5.5 as she has mobility problems and cant walk far and we needed to get to school speedily.

I would suggest going to a shop that stocks all 3 but has no affiliation to one and have a play! Put it up and down, pic it up to check how it balances when being moved.. see how the raincovers fixes.. will it cover a babys feet when they get to about 2? many dont!!! Does it face both ways? does it lie completely fat for a newborn?

And.. terrainhaus footmuffs.. they are amazing.. very very warm, fit everything and last ntil baby is about 3.. so much better than the ones which come with pushchairs that last about 18 monts if you are lucky!

Im getting the Oyster :) I went to silvercross which has depots allover the country. I got with it a carry cot, normal pram base, car seat, foot muff, changing bag, colour pack, car seat foot muff, car seat adaptors, 2 rain covers to fit the carry cot and the normal pram stroler type base. I paid £475 and i can pay in installments interest free, once its paid off they will deliver or i can pick it up. I guess it depends on your budget and needs, i wanted this pram as really easy to push- has extending handle bar and converts to a three in one- you can have car seat on chassis, can have carry cot on it or the normal seat base which is suitable from birth as reclines and you get head huggers etc. I was really impressed with the package, i cant speak for the other prams not been to see those but i did go to see silvercross 3D and icandy.. decided against. The surf was lovely but needed something under £500 that includes everything.

Finally got my free pack of huggies with the bounty voucher i received! What a mess about lol. First tesco i went to didnt stock size one, popped to a diff one yesterday to get my LO a winter coat. Noticed they stocked them so trekked back to the car in the winds for the voucher. Went to checkout, voucher wasnt valid. Sent me to customer service who for some reason refunded me for the nappies, stil gave me them and the voucher back!!? So i was honest and mid sentance of explaining the first cashier came running over in a panic after witnessing this and explained. In the end i got the nappies, went to leave and the alarm went off- argghhh she had left a security tag on LO's coat! In all fairness they where lovely and helpfull staff though. Most would just turn the voucher away but they never once declined it.

Im 13+4 today and can feel baby is getting higher in my belly now- not much higher but feels tender now when i touch my lower belly.. kinda nice feeling though :s

Hope all you ladies are feeling ok and not blowing away in this wind, i was getting blown about on the roads whiles driving tut

We went for the M&P Sola, which kinda ticks all your boxes. DH has a sub to Which?, which had the Sola as a best buy with a good score, which is why we looked at it to start with. You can buy a pram/bassinette top for when the baby is wee and needs to be flat, which you can also buy a different pram mattress for, for over night sleeping if you go away. The pushchair seat can face towards or away from you. Don't know if it will fit your car (dont know how big your boot is!) but it can fold down with the seat attached. Or detach the seat for an even smaller fold down!
We liked it for the above, plus you can buy adaptors to use it with maxi cosi cabriofix car seat, which gets a very very good safety rating, better than the M&P seats. The pushchair seat also had 3 different back angles which we liked. If you go to an M&P shop they are usually very good about letting you see if it will fit your boot..

twigpig - I've gone for the oyster. Not got the carseat yet, but one reason for the oyster was as Kira was saying for the m&p - it takes the maxicosi carseats and they are highly recommended by everyone I've spoken to and loads on people online.

Oyster folds up really small, the wheels come off to get it smaller, and it was a good deal in the mothercare sale with hopefully some quidco money to come as well. Only disadvantage I kept coming across in reviews was the front wheels can get stuck if offroad. I can't think of any situations that would be an issue for me, but do take where you will need to use it into account.

Despite disagreeing with pigpen on my preferred system (sorry!) I would have to agree with her that the best option is to go somewhere and try some out. Especially important for getting a feel of how heavy they are and how small they fold down.

We ended up with the M&P Mylo

    http://www.mamasandpapas.com/product-mylo-black-jackblack-jack/126520715/type-i/

I preferred the Stokke Xplory but it was just out of my price range. The Mylo folds down to a decent size, and its really easy to fold down and up again, you can do it all one handed. The girl let us have a go in the shop. It feels sturdy, as does the Pilko actually. I felt a lot of prams and one little shake and they were all over the place. You can have the carry cot, pushchair seat or the car seat on the chassis. Same as the Sola you can buy a proper mattress for the carry cot for over night use. The material of the pram is weird, but it's wipe clean, so for small marks you don't have to bung it in the washing machine.

Out of your 3 I'd go with the Bugaboo Chameleon. It feels sturdy and is modern enough looking you'd choose to use it again if you decide to have another. That was our reasoning for choosing the pram we did, I knew I liked it a lot, so would be happy to re-use.

Welcome Sammie, that's a shame you've been in the hospital. I've been feeling great from about 9/10 weeks. No tiredness and not been sick once. I've got a horrible head cold at the moment though, and it's annoying me.

  • Hi Sammie, hope you start feeling a bit better soon!

I'm 19+4 , I think the major tiredness (where I could sleep for 13 hours and still need an afternoon nap) went away about week 14-15. Instead I'm tired because I keep waking up at 6am and not being able to get back to sleep.... not sure that's a huge improvement but I guess I get a bit more done :)

    Thanks for the welcome ladies.

The tiredness seems to kick in around half two which is just before I have to do the school run so it doesn't help!! Hopefully I'll be over the worse of it soon.
