Hi
Can someone give me a quick outline of what happens at the 16 week appointment. Got mine on Friday.
Thanks!
Thanks. Does the midwife not examine you or listen to the baby's heartbeat then? I remember I used to be able to listen to the hb at my midwife appointments, but that was 17 years ago,so maybe things have changed since then......:happyloveBaby girl born 27/2/12:happylove

At my 16 week appointment my midwife felt my tummy and listened to the babys heartbeat0

My midwife felt my tummy but didn't listen for a heartbeat. Each one is different I guess. If you want them to listen to the heartbeat then just ask. They can only say no!
But apart from that it was BP check, urine check, any questions? :rotfl::j Debt Free 27.07.2011!! :j0 -
They listened at my appointment for baby's heartbeat, I was 15 weeks.Mum of several with a twisted sense of humour and a laundry obsession

Hi
I went to see my midwife yesterday, usual bp check (as i am on bp meds) and have been booked in to see the consultant next week as I have an embarassing problem. It is most likely I have a varicose vein 'down there' and so need to get it checked and apparently a plan made on how to deal with it/manage it.
I didn't realise it is fairly common, similar to piles. All the extra blood flow and weight pressing down-causing this problem. It was worrying me a lot, but have been assured it'll be ok.

Hi everyone. Just back from the 21 week scan. had to wait an HOUR- AGAIN! Everytime i have an appointment, i'm one of the last two people to be called. What on earth is the point of saying 12, if i'm always going to be called last, at 13? As a result the scan was really quick as afternoon clinic was about to start and they wanted me out of the way. At least i didnt have the vile sonographer from last time.
ANYWAY. Everything was fine, saw all the major organs and things, heart bopping away like mad. Beanie is almost exactly average overall at 52%ile, but is measuring as extra long femurs! I think i prefer that to a huge head at the mo though, so no complaints! I may feel differently when said legs are buried somewhere i dont want them! EDD has stayed exactly the same.
Yet again bean was being awkward though, and is happily ensconsed transverse across my belly, legs firmly together, even when i got up and jumped up and down, and wiggled my hips like a mad thing! However, the sonographer is pretty sure she could tell, and she says....................
TEAM PINK!!
Hubby and i are now going to have to get used to saying she, and are trying out calling bean our chosen name.
Congrats on team blue Amanda!

well done Amanda on a healthly scan and being on the blue team
and to Kira more pink pink pink team!
my 16 week midwife appointment we listened to bean but it does seem to vary. I felt honoured as i work in a building with some midwife and i asked them if they listened at 16 weeks and they said not if they are overwieght as cant hear a thing so i was chuffed my midwife listened!
i have been to the docs with my varicous veins and he said they are really bad he has given me a doctors note to do amended duties... ha ha i bet that wont happen! he is also thinking of booking me for a scan... on my legs... and i wanted to see bean again but he said scan my legs to check the curculation.:j Proud mum to Jade age 10 years and Baby Ellie born Christmas Day:eek: with a broke heartProven to be a little fighter and battling on with her heart condition :j
