How strange, I work for the local authority and get 90% of my wages for 6 weeks, then 50% f my wages for 12 weeks, then SMP until 39 weeks. Ypu've gt a cracking maternity package for a public sector service.

    Wonder W

    - Thats what i get
statutory maternty pay (SMP) is £128.73 a week

the letter i received from work states i get week 1-6 @ 90% pay £133.23
week 7-26 standard rate SMP plus half standard wages £147.63
    week 27-39 standard SMP £128.73

my normal weekly wage is approx £150 so i will not be very short on my normal wage and will save money on petrol, parking and lunches which will sort out the shortfall.

Delain and YUmmymummy, big congrats on your little team pinkies!!:j

Jenjade.. * envious* My company has sooooo many childbearing age females in shift work, that it gives absolutely bare minimum statutory everything. So i get 6 weeks at 90%, and then straight down to SMP for the remaining 20 weeks of the ordinary M/L, then nowt if you extend into the 26 weeks of additional M/L.

I'm going to be down well over £1k per month, which when i'm servicing evil ex's debts at £900pcm is going to be tricky! By the time i'm off i'll have just about saved enough to maintain minimum payments while i'm off which i hate as the interest will start accumulating again. Grrrrrr. STRESS!!

Kira can you not talk to CAB about all this? Surely you should not be paying off £900 per month of debts that aren't yours. That's more than my rent for goodness sake!

If you are liable then get yourself on a payment plan or something, at least the interest won't start building again.

Congrats on team pink Yummymummy, it's a good team to be on :)

Hiya hon, Thanks. Unfortunately i've been round the loop on the whole ar*ehole debts thing. He ran up a huge load of debt on a joint CC, cleared out our joint account into thousands of o/d (Leavin g me broke and needing to borrow more to pay bills) and left me with 6 months to pay of a rental contract, as well as a joint loan, then went to live overseas where he cant be touched. So, i'm responsible in his absence. I've been paying off since 2004, and still a way to go as in early days i didnt earn enough to do more than minimum on most things, and i didnt want to screw my credit record. In hindsight if i had done DMP back then i would be clear by now.
But hey! I'm getting there and my record of payment is good so no point in screwing it up now.
Now i have more disposible, its easier to overpay and i've rid myself of the highest interest ones, and some of the biggest loans i had to take out at the time. I've overpaid as much as i can for the last 8 months on the highest interest ones, to get the amounts down, whilst saving to cover my Mat. Only taking 6 Months, and DH is going to be paying the bills. I think i'll just make it!:(

Hey everyone, hope you've had a good weekend!

Congrats delain and yummy on the scan news, that great!

I can't decide if I'm starting to feel baby flutterings! Am 16 weeks today, so theoretically it *could* be now, but I'm sure it's really something else... It just happens occasionally, like a little flutter in the bottom of my tummy. Pretty much what it says in the books that it feels like :D Hopefully over the next few weeks I'll know for sure :D

Well done jenjade on the car boot haul, sounds like you got a load of great stuff! I'm going to start hitting the boot sales after my next payday :D

Oooh 4annabella that's exciting, it'l be 2 weeks tomorrow for me so I hope I feel them as early too. My friend could feel her baby from really early but only when she had Glee on really loud!! Not sure what that means haha.
