ww-- might be a silly question or idea but would it be worth paying for a 3d scan? would that answer any of your questions/ worries?

I am more and more convinced he just wanted to practice his amnio technique on me.

I'll ring my new hospital next week and see if my referral has gone through and ask about my 20 week scan.

Well.. apparently they have to do so many in a 12 month period to be allowed to keep doing them and not have to 'retrain' in the art.. so it is possible he needs to bump up his number... same goes for mw's .. they have to deliver a certain number a year to keep working..

So you may not be far wrong!

Hi, I'm also coming over to join you all. I'm 14+5 today, although there's little sign of that apart from sciatica. At least the overwhelming tiredness is starting to wear off :)

I've been feeling a bit weird about being in limbo between scans and tests, with no idea what I should be expecting next (like whether I'm supposed to arrange a 16 week appointment with the midwife), but it sounds like we have to figure a lot of this out for ourselves, with help from forums like this one!!

WW - been reading back and feel so cross for you that no two people involved in the care of you and your bean seem to be able to give you straight, or the same, advice. I can only hope you find a way through it.

  • Thanks Crabapple, and welcome. Did your midwife not give you a 16 week appointment at your booking in appointment? Mine books your next appt at each visit. I would get onto her to get one sorted

I don't think so, they are held at private clinics and from what I have read on the internet they will not point out possible health issues with your baby.

Hmmmm ..... you can understand why that's the case so that they retain their skills, but it just means some women will be railroaded into a risky procedure when there could be other options to explore before taking that risk :(

WW - I hope the weekend has given you some space in your head to process the stuff so far? Let's hope this coming week brings better news.

Welcome newbies - hope you're feeling ok?

OH and I went for breakfast this morning and I didn't really get what I ordered, plus my pineapple juice tasted processed/squash-like rather than fresh, so I got myself in a right tizz over it, including full-on wobbly chin and tearie eyes which turned into a full on blub in the car. I reckon it's partly due to a late night last night (got to bed at 1.30am) but mainly due to being a hormonal, insane, unstable preggo lady! Oops! It's nearly 9pm here and I'm going to head off to bed already :)

Enjoy your Sundays ladies, BM :) x

Welcome crabapple i had to arrange my 16 week appointment myself. At my booking in appointment my midwife said they will have appointment available within the next couple off weeks so pop into my doctors and book it.

WW Hope you and OH are ok and are having a nice weekend and some clear head space.

Got my 16 week appointment tomorrow even tho i'm 15+3 but that was the only time my midwife is at my doctors. Will they still be able to do the blood tests as i'm not excatly 16 weeks?

We bought something for the baby yesterday a brand new car!!
  • Think they prob will do blood tests, it's only a few days out anyway.

Having a chilled day after a hectic week at work. Sitting watching T4 On The Beach and JJ moved like mad when Jason Derulo was on...may have to wean him/her onto some decent music from an early age ;)

  • Thanks ladies, we are feeling a bit better today. I guess with every day that passes we will feel more settled. I just wish we didn't have to see the Consultant again on Wednesday :(

Oh phoned his parents this morning as they came back from holiday yesterday. MIL was crying on the phone. I chatted to her for half an hour and she said she felt better afterwards :o

I washed some baby clothes that I had got from my sisters today, it's all gender neutral and they look so tiny and cute hanging on the washing line :D

    Hi everyone,

Just thought I'd pop in and say hi as I am 12 weeks today :D Had my scan on Friday and it was brilliant, and have spent the weekend telling everyone.

My 16 week MW appointment is on the 11th August.

When has everyone started to get a proper baby bump? I've kind of got a little one but think it's more bread and pasta related than baby... :rotfl:
