I'm 21 weeks and haven't bought any maternity clothes yet, except for some bump bands - 3 for £10 in new look and 2 for £3 in lidl. I plan to buy a pair of maternity jeans, as I can wear those to work but to be honest a lot of the time I will be wearing floaty dresses (not maternity, just from Asda and peacocks) with leggings etc. I really don't want to spend a lot of money of something I will only wear for a short time!!!
I do have a bump (quite a big one now!) but am still able to fit into most of my clothes wearing my bump band!Mammy to 2 boys aged 5 and 20 -

:question:Sorry if this is too long or in the wrong place, but I didn't know where else to post!
I am 20+4 weeks pregnant with my 2nd child due 13th October. We already have a gorgeous 6 year old daughter and are now expecting a little boy!
This is the first time that I have had to faff on with maternity leave etc as I wasn't working with my first child.
My employer has asked me to hand in my MAT B1 form and a letter explaining that I am pregnant, my due date and when I wish to begin maternity leave. They also asked me to write whether or not I intend to return to work after maternity leave.
As I only work 10hrs per work, it would not be financially viable for me to return. Should I write this and give notice starting the month before end of leave, or can they dismiss me as I have already given notice? I have tried searching the net but can't find any answers!!0 -
as far as i am aware you just hand in your mat b1 with a letter
to whom it may concern

i am xxx weeks pregnant, i will bestarting my maternity leave on the xxxxxxx and do not intend to be returning to work after the end of my maternity leave.
yours sincerely

you dont have to give notice and leave earlier than your maternity leave. the bit about starting back to work or not is because some payments will vary, if you are returning there is sometimes bonuses for doing so.
as far as i am aware this is correct but if not im sure someone will be along very shortly to say other wise.
well its a lovely sunny day here so am going to waddle my backside down to the park with the children lol. xnow proud mum to 3 handsome boys :j latest one born 10/10/11:j0 -
I didn't think you had to give a date you intended to return to work just say whether or not you do intend to.. but you can change your mind if you want..
So for safety sake I would say yes I wish to return and is it 4 or 6 weeks before your leave ends that you have to let the employer know for definite when you will be returning or tell them you are not returning. Telling them you are not returning now does not make life easy for you at work.. my sister had a hellish time.
I would do as above and say at this time I was intending to return to work at the end of my ML and would advise closer the time as per the current guidelines.LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -

If the company pats OMP you may get paid money that you then have to pay back when you do not return.
I would wait until a week before your maternity, or until you actually do go on your maternity and then write to them saying that you have relooked at your situation and will not be returning.
I know it would be better for the company if you let them know well in advance so they could advertise for a replacement and that they are not allowed to discriminate against a woman because she is pg, but I don't think any of us are naive enough to think that it doesn't happen.0
