Hey folks - looking a wee bit of advise for the wise amongst us
I am 18 weeks tomorrow and have been told my blood pressure is high - they have gave me tablets and told me to relax and i have to go back next week. My blood pressure at my booking in appt was grand so this is something which has developed - Has anyone else experienced this at all or what should i expect if it doesnt improve?
I made the mistake of googling and scared the sh** out of myself
Thanks in advanceComp Wins 2011 : Cant wait to start listing everything:j:j:j0 -
Sorry not read this thread in a while but saw your post and was a bit worried.
. Please remember that a huge proportion of the medical info posted on the Internet is at best inaccurate and a lot of times so wrong it can be dangerous. Please don't worry so much
. I have never personally had high blood pressure in pregnancy but through my job do know a bit about it. Firstly if they had thought at this point that it imposed any immediate risk to either yourself or baby they would have admitted you to hospital straight away...no Ifs or buts about it.
. They are concerned because it has increased but you have been given medication which should hopefully bring it back to your normal range but if it doesn't with this one don't panic as there are quite a few different meeds out there approved for blood pressure management through pregnancy.
. You will be seen far more frequently from now on just to keep a close eye on your health but that is done to try and prevent problems before they start rather than doing the more difficult treat after it has happened.
Please try and relax a bit and ignore what you find on the Internet as it is often less than helpful and take care of yourself.
Sorry if I sound a bit rangy I really don't mean to be0 -

Morning girlies!
Hope everyone is well?I feel like I am constantly full of wind.. yet nothing comes up, or down  lol.. so I have tummy ache too.. I am also still really constipated which is actually making me feel sick when I eat now.
I'm exactly like that! I'm on lactulose solution for the constipation, not sure its doing much though  and at the mo I have to lie down within about ten minutes of eating which is weird! How's Squeak doing with her teeth today? Do they still make Bicciepegs? I remember DS getting addicted to them lol
I'm off to the surgeons today about the hernia. Not sure why I'm wasting my time to be perfectly honest because I can't see them operating until babs is born but hey ho. I'm not sleeping again so I'm totally exhausted and in lots of pain from SPD which seems to be getting worse since physiohas anyone got any advice on how to manage it so you're not in constant pain? I've tried wearing the girdle thing they gave me which does help with walking but I can't sit down, get upstairs or drive while I'm wearing it! Grrr....
Anyway, plasterer did his stuff yesterday so hopefully skirting boards, door frames, coving and wallpaper at the weekend. I really can't wait to get this sorted now - the state of the house is driving me mad and sleeping in the front room is impossible because of the constant electrical buzz that eminates from all the flaming consoles (HATE video games, but thats a whole other rant!) I asked DH if they could be turned off at the wall unless he's using them but oh no, they have to update overnight blahblahblah !
Sorry for the downbeat post, just had to get it off my chest, normal cheerful service will shortly be resumed0 -
Well i guess it;s time i left this thread now ladies  where has the time gone. i shall still read tho and offer adivce if i can.
but an update on me.
i had my scan on tuesday.dispite driving roudn for 20 mins and not finding a space ( our hospital is a nightmare for aprking) in the end i went to the private ward and pleaded to their good nature and they allowed me to park. i was so stressed. but i had my scan even tho late for appointment. got most of measurements but baby would not move to have his spine checked. so i had to go away and come back after my consultant appoint. Well that clinc was runnign 2 hours behind  so glad i took lunch for my little boy. but he was soo good. we had a stack of toys, food and colouring bit's.
finially got all the baby measurements, baby is weighing 1lb 11 oz and is spot on in size. he is on the 95 centitile for most measurements and the 50th for a couple but all in all, no problems. We discussed all the pains i'm having but baby is breach, it is almost like he is stood up in their, so when he kicks they are right down low which is why im in alot of pain and can hardly walk beyond snails pace sometimes.and the pins and needles in my tummy is due to the 3 prcevious sections and the more sections i have the more i'll be aware of this sensation. so i'm pleased nothing is wrong/
Then i get to the consulant. only to be told, why have you come her. i said to speak to my consulant about having natural. oh i think she went home . but they found her she was in next room. she was so nice. i'm so glad i have such a wonderful and understanding consultant. she fully understood my wishes for natural and she said she wouldn't stand in my way. but she is worried that if my scar does split i have internal bleeding but the babies blood supply is stopped straight away and they don't know how long it will take for baby to be fully born.and if they have to do an emergancy section they have 3 minutes to get me into theatre, prep me and get baby out. i didn't fully realise at first appointment it was such a risk on baby. i just thought i suffered with bleeding.
so were now thinking i will prob have the section. i am very scared and nervous, even tho i do have good recovery. but i'm saddened my baby can't come naturally. and it look slike that wil proberly happen on the 17th aug. if i do go into natural labour my consulant said she would like to take me in straight away for section before any risk do develop. which i fully understand. doesn't mean at the moment i feel completly happy with it, as i had set my heart on natural. but i do want my baby here safe. However on a plus note however our baby comes out we will have another gorgeous son joining our family and it doens't get better than that really.
Then on wednesday i had another A/N. my blood pressure is perfect. babies heartbeat sounded womderful. i asked to be measured as i feel so huge and all my friends like telling em how big i am :rotfl: but my tummy measured 24. which is spot on as i'm 24 +4. so i don't feel like a huge whale now, even if i may look it,lol. but my midwife did say this is your 5th pregnancy so you proberly will be bigger than last time, thanks for that then, lol.
no more appointments till june, which i'm pleased about as i seem to have alot of fussing this week.
as for baby buying i've gone against the grain with how i normally am. i now have a huge supply of clothes, nappies, moses baskets, blankets and a cot my parents bought us. i am getting so excited.
sorry for not reading back through all the post's, before my post . i will do that in a bit.0
