My friend lent me her Doppler today. I used it for about a minute and couldn't hear anything but I'm not even sure where I'm supposed to position the thing. I am NOT going to panic at this stage!

I was thinking about buying one but don't think I'm going to as I'd be worrying if I couldn't find it!

Had another scan today ( nuchal fold) and bloods. Baby was much more active since last week, waving arms and legs, was able to see everything clearer too :) feeling more real as last week it was very lazy and although I did see heartbeat it wasn't really moving around.

MW said all looks fine but will get my results in about 3 weeks when bloods have been tested.

Sounds like my 2 scans! Lazy first one and then wouldn't stop moving in the second! Its amazing how much changes in less than 2 weeks!

My MW said I'd hear quickly by phone if there's a problem with the blood results, but receive a letter "when they get round to it" if all ok. It was the 12th when I gave blood and had the letter through on Tuesday this week.

my hormones are all over the place! Lots of crying at nothing much at all....

How many weeks are you Squirrel? I love my doppler! Make sure you have lots of lube/lotion on your stomach. Lie down on the bed or sofa. Start low down at one side and move it slowly across to the other side. Inch it up a bit higher and start again.

Mine is always much lower than I think and a cm makes a big difference in finding him. He also moves fast and I end up chasing him over my stomach - I don't think he likes the doppler!

Glad to hear you had a good scan Con. :)

I'm in 2 minds about a doppler. Would love to hear baby's heartbeat (and for OH to hear it) but the midwife and the GP had to search for a fair while for a heartbeat and if the professionals struggle with it, what chance have I got?! :p

Speaking of hormones going crazy, I've had a risk assessment for work today and mentioned that I wanted a back support and foot rest for my desk chair and the lady fobbed me off saying they'd look at what I need when I'm further along... I almost cried because I want them now! :o

SmlSave, good suggestion about stockings, going to get some but sometimes you just need tights!

Bought some maternity t-shirts and a pair of jeans from New Look that got delivered the other day... I ordered my normal size and I haven't put on masses of weight or anything but they seem tight already, can't imagine them fitting comfortably when I'm bigger? Not too impressed that I'm going to have to return them and order the next size up. :(

I'll be 16 weeks tomorrow. I didn't try lube so will give it a go... Not even sure what I'm listening out for but guess I'll know if I hear it. I'm worried about pressing too hard too but I can't be as bad as the sonographer!!

Glad it's not just me then!

Squirrel, my sonographer pressed stupidly hard too! Just what you want on a full bladder! _pale_

OH surprised me when I went home for lunch, he's built all the nursery furniture! :j We'd been planning for him to get the room cleared ready for us to do the building over the weekend but his brother came around and they got carried away. It's so cute! We've got the M&P Fern collection and it's really nice and solid. Properly built to last, or so OH says since it took him and his brother ages to put it all together! ;) So good to see baby's room coming together so we can see what we still need and what we've got room for. :)

  • bigzippy - thankyou for the link for free tickets, there was no way I was paying £15 pp to go.

Birdie85 - I am sure it is the employers duty to provide you with the right h&s equipment no matter if your pregnant or not. I did some h&s training last week all about how to sit at your desk and how to lift etc. I work in an office sat at a computer all day. HR phoned me after I did the training to see if I needed anything, I have a back support on order. My pregnancy risk assessment is next week. I would tell them that you need the foot rest and back support now.

I am waiting for the doctor to phone me, before 2pm they said. Struggling with my back pain, been sore for a few weeks now and MW advise to see doctor. I was up at 330am this morning full of pain, it hasn't been this bad since I originally damage my back in a car crash 5 years ago and then only physio and co-coldamol (sp?) pain killers worked - not sure what they can give me now if anything. Its so sore and painful :(

Taken the scary step of telling family yesterday and work today. It's kind of a relief that it's 'out there' now. There was a small hiccup when my mum randomly turned up at my work with a congrats balloon when my boss happened to be in my office. Thankfully he didn't notice but I told him shortly after anyway. :D
Treat everyday as your last one on earth! and one day you will be right.
