    I've been Money Tipped!
I heard the heartbeat at my 16 week appointment on Tuesday but the midwife did say she might not be able to find it x

  • Morning everyone,

I recognise a few names from the 'less than 12 weeks' thread and now it's my turn to jump over here!

Had out 12 week scan yesterday and they dated me 12+5 which is close enough as we thought we were 12+4 :-) they moved our edd back one day so now baby is due on the 2nd anniversary of bf and I meeting!

Telling the big boss today at work, I've been putting it off for weeks but now I know I have to tell him! Any tips? I'm going to do it this morning and get it out of the way so fingers crossed I don't put him in a bad mood for the rest of the day!

That's interesting to know about the heartbeat. I must have been just lucky then.
At the prev scan she told me that they don't do the heart beat then at the 12 week she was soooo lovely, we were in there ages and she said so shall we hear the heartbeat then?

V tempted to get a Doppler, but not sure if I'd be worried if I couldn't hear it.

Hi lush, glad your scan went well. :)
Good luck telling the boss. Sorry not tips! My boss had thought I was telling her I was pg once before and we agreed that I wouldn't use the phrase "I have some good news..." Until I was! So just just said remember that phrase I'm not allowed to use, well..... :p

When Ive told bosses Ive just come out & said it. As far as I'm concerned its their issue if they don't take it wel, but both times mine have been great - and when I told them I was also saying I couldn't come in or explaining why I'd been off sick! I was more worried about that. So don't worry & don't be apologetic about it! It's just something employers have to get on with.

It never even occurred to me to be worried about telling my boss, like Claire says, it's their problem if they can't be happy for you and they're legally obliged to support you! :) It might be more awkward if I worked somewhere really small though, but you still can't be expected to never have kids for fear of letting your employer down! ;)

I'm struggling to sit comfortably at my desk today and I'm not even that big, my belly is poking into the desk and making me feel queasy. :( How the heck will I cope when I get bigger?!
Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!

  • I'm just going with telling him I'm expecting, and the rough dates I currently plan to be off as long as all things go well.

I don't have a particularly strenuous job so I'm going to look to start leave as of Friday 14th March which is 2 weeks before my due date and return after about 6 months :) ... we think/plan

Welcome Lush :) I told my work i'd be off for nine months and then ended up taking the whole year! Thankfully there's no obligation to tell work when you want to return as they are supposed to assume that you are taking the full year, thankfully my work are very family friendly :)

I'm sorry to post something so upsetting but I think that Post Natal Depression is very serious and this is an article about a friend of mine who couldn't cope:

This is actually someone I knew, her little boy is only a month older than DS now so i'm asking you all, even though its months away that if you have any problems or worries after the birth to talk about it with someone.

    Sorry about the downer

  • SmlSave thank you. He was ok. Said some things which were very typically him if you know what I mean! He told me not to plan anything yet so didn't want to hear about our current plans for anything!

Feel like I can get excited now haha!

Also thank you for having the confidence to post about PND it's something women don't think about, often not until it's too late

We haven't seen him for a long time but he had/has a lot of family and work support. He is getting with his life and I was surprised that the inquest has taken over 18months to happen. DH is hoping to meet up with him in a couple of months.

Sounds like you have a nice work place too lush :)
