One of the council lot round here have a shihtzu, I thought they were pedigree and out of the normal plebs budget?
Seriously though. If your neighbours are HA tenants then get in touch with the HA, find out who is responsible for that estate and keep a diary of all happenings. Think yourself lucky that they don't own the house or you would never get rid of them.
Chavs or not, some home owners can be real nightmares and I don't like this stereotyping of tenants as chavs. Yes some of them are despicable, but that's just people for you and it's not fair to dump that label just on tenants. You ask anyone on this site and almost everyone will have or have had in the past a nightmare neighbour and a large proportion of them will have been owners.
All the houses on your estate could have been sold and you'd still get the odd one who is a nuisance neighbour. It's just life.
Victoria Beckham has 4 kids, Ulrika Johnsson has a housefull all by different dads, Angelina Jolie and Madonna run their own kids homes etc, now THEY would be nightmare neighbours. I'd rather live next door to kids than dogs. Dogs are the bane of my life.0 -
^ Hear, hear.
Avoid living next door to families with lots of kids. They will grow up to terrorise you. The ideal neghbours are a middle-aged, house-proud couple whose kids have grown up and flown the nest. That's in my experience and in my opinion, of course. The worst possible neighbours are single teenage-mums. You can bet your life that they'll be junkies, on the dole, loud and chavvy.Everyone is entitled to my opinion!0 -
Going by some of the kids around here, I'd rather live next door to 10 dogs than kids. At least dogs won't do drugs, smash bottles, swear loudly, vandalise your car or break into your house.
No, they just dump all over your garden and on the paths on the way to school, jump up at your kids and frighten the life out of them, fight with other dogs and attack small children.
Maybe the answer here is an estate that is free from dogs and children! Oh and cats, I hate cats too.0 -

What like that single teenage mum who so impressed the dragons on Dragons Den that they all wanted to invest in her?0 -

OH the shame of living amongst poorer people must be appalling..I would not tell anyone i met if it was me for fear of them looking down their nose at me.:)It is nice to see the value of your house going up'' Why ?
Unless you are planning to sell up and not live anywhere, I can;t see the advantage.
If you are planning to upsize the new house will cost more.
If you are planning to downsize your new house will cost more than it should
If you are trying to buy your first house its almost impossible.0 -
Regarding the washing macine, get them to put in the front garden with a sign sayong "For Sale £50.00". It will be gone within a day.0

^ Yes. It will be gone. For £0.00. LOL.Everyone is entitled to my opinion!0
