I'm not allowed to comment on this thread.

But someone earlier asked why its not advertised or promoted - And thats because its only promoted to new customers. Existing customers need to request to go onto it. :)

Ah, right....I did a search on a comparison site and this tariff came up second after BG (who I don't want to go with). I am already a Powergen customer and I rang and asked about the Winter Saver tariff and asked if I could change to it, which they did with no problem, but I was told that 'it was only for new customers'.

    That's cleared that up then!

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton

Depends on what version of capped prices your on. I would suggest staying on the capped rate if you joined earlier in the year, since the secondary rate stayed the same at the beginning as standard domestic prices. You may find changing would cost you more money in the long run.
  • Thanks for whoever started this thread. Just rang Powergen and asked to be put on the Energy Online Winter Saver. Monthly payments was £73 and now it has gone down to £56 per month. Easy and simple. Just like that. No problems at all. Thanks again

Thanks to OP - saved me 6%.
No reliance should be placed on the above.
  • Thank you, thank you - just phoned and got put on the winter saver getting 5% discount. The person i spoke to was very helpful ??? I am in credit as they originally set the monthly d/d too high so i am getting a £320 refund and reduced my monthly d/d to £50.

Anyone on the normal online tariff must do this - no catches.

    Big thanks to isayoldchap.
  • I changed to powergen's energy online winter saver last night from british gas, will be saving £135 a year and only as i came to this site on recommendation from my mum.
