I used to love take-away food but I've gone right off it this last year or so. Burger King warm almost all of their food in a microwave right in front of you, KFCs are all grotty and staffed by people who don't listen (and in many cases don't speak English all that well), while at the local McDs the staff are always arguing at the top of their voices.
I used Burger King several times a week and have never seen this. It's always cooked at the back then served.0 -

these are the sort of muppets who should not work with food or the public then.

I don't go to McDonalds often, trying to eat healthy. So when I do I don't really know what they sell and I have to have a look at the board. No more than 10 seconds after looking at the board a spotty youth from behind the counter yells "CAN I TAKE YOUR ORDER PLEASE?"
Can't this moron see I'm still deciding what to buy? Was I expected to stand out in the cold looking at the menu and know what I wanted before I came in? I could understand if there was a queue of people behind me waiting for me to make up my mind but this is when there is nobody else and I'm five foot away from the counter. Yeah, I can say I'm still looking but I think it's a bit rude.0 -
oohhh...i just went to the drive-thru to get a cone ice-cream with a flake. t the first window, paid and ordered for the ice-cream. 2nd window was told, no ice-cream left...machines have been turned off. 3rd window, went to collect my money and was told they do have ice-cream. waied for 5mins, and then was handed the ice-cream dripping down off the cone as the girl was chatting to a colleague while my ice cream wa sin her hand and without the flake. I demanded another one! She went away and got me it but the service is really appallling!0

There's normally a 'keep-warm' behind the counters where they slide burgers down prior to sale, behind this and out of view are a row of microwaves. They do cook the food on the premises but save and then warm it prior to serving. They don't add the cheese until they microwave. It's only in really busy outlets that it's normally cooked and served immediately.Quidco savings: £499.49 tracked, £494.35 paid.0 -

i prefer to stop off at a local chip shop where usualy they are owner operated and have some kind of pride in serving you
Thats a load of poo....
I worked at McD's for 3 yrs, and most of us were at Uni and were not half wits. In the stores i have worked at 4 in total there were only about 10% of staff who werent in further or higher education, and most managers have degrees.
Ollym's experience was a bad one, I used to work as customer sevice assistant, which meant I was in the dining area and other customer access areas 90% of the time.
If it was closing time when you bought ur food, at our place you would be allowed to finish unless you were taking the mick, and taking ages. Chances are if the dining area was a mess the person working on the dining area was elsewhere cleaning. and the staff on tills and kitchen dont usually help out with the tidying (there are some exceptions!) and they close some areas to clean them so they are ready for the next day. although i would re-open areas if it got busy.
Also if staff were chatting and it was nearly closing time it was probably because until it hits bang on closing time they cant start stripping down the machines and so just waiting for the time to pass.
You should have complained to the manager, if it was a low rank manager or they were unhelpful then you should have phoned or gone in another day.... they will give you a better response usually than the customer service line, but if they still dont help then call CS line.
Toilets being clean.... big bug bear of mine, as we had to check them every 15-30mins, and you could check them 1 min and literally 2 mins later someone complains that they are trashed, what are we to do when customers trash things.
If people put there rubbish away as they are supposed to do so as it wasnt my job to do it!! it would free up a lot of time, to clean everywhere else.
as for people being told to eff-off when complaining ive never known it happen unless they are making rediculous claims, on such "complaint" was that a girl had hairs in the burger, there was no other long haired people working except me and i hadnt been in kitchen and the hair was ginger and there was a huge clump in there, the girls mate happened to have ginger hair of a similar length!!
I know some places offer bad service etc, but PLEASE dont brand everyone who works there!!!! I know far more idiots in my current job as an analytical scientist than i did at mcdonalds.  :mad:0 -

Certainly not the case the local Burger Kings I have used over time, witnessed my food being cooked from scratch0 -

Each star represents a different station in the restaurant (dining area, till, chicken, burgers and 'back room' if I remember correctly). They are achieved by passing a practical test based on a number of criteria. Once you have 5 stars you can sit a written exam to be a staff trainer (ie train other members of staff to work each of the different stations.
Or at least this was the case when I left 6 years ago.
Anthillmob-I would have never described myself as a moron whilst working there (I know you jest, but there must be a reason for that comment!). I loved every minute of it, met great people and gained so much confidence. It earned me a fairly decent wage and I was very tempted to progress my career further with the company down the management route.
I can't comment on the bad service experienced by the posters on this thread but know the two I worked at were the cleanest around and certainly did not reheat the food!!!Getting Married 19/02/110
