Can anybody tell me if we are entitled to CTC, as my husband has been made redundant and now claiming Contribution JSA which means we have just over £100 per week coming in intead of his full wage. His earning for 2010/2011 and 2011/2012 are over the threshold but now we have hardly any money coming in and this could really help. I'm so confused0

Hi can anyone help. Tax credits have advised that they are withdrawing payments from 2012, based on our income of 26600 for 2011/12. However for the last three months my husband has been unemployed a minefield I. Itself. I only work part time 13 hours per week earn 5500 per year.
My question is this unless husband finds a job before 6th April this year our income will be a lot less than the £26600.
We have already advised tax credits that hubby is now on jsa contributions based so surely his earnings from 6 April are only £67.50 per week what can we do tax credits were informed but we still got letter advising payments based on last years income would stop am sooooo confused.0 -
What is everyone's feeling about Child benefit in next week's budget? Will Osbourne axe CB for families with a joint earning of 43000? If so we wiil not make ends meet as we have a monthly childcare bill of £900 for two babies.0

Well I think I've gone and done a stupid thing, and all because I'm so honest!
We only have 1 child left on the tax credits. No child care.
Our CTC was based on my husband's earnings from 2010 to 11 of £25,026. He had earned just over 23k several weeks ago, so I worked it out that by the time the 5th April comes, he would have earned approx £30,800. His wages are never the same. So, to prevent us from getting overpaid when they estimate payments between 5th April and when award is done, (as, our tax credits will end,) I wrote to them with his latest payslip, and gave them an estimate of what he would earn by 5th April, and gave the same estimate for next year.
They put our payment down by £3 a week. Fair enough, but so much for the disregard?
Anyway, thought everything will be ok now, but, as luck would have it, my husband has had several good weeks, so worked it out again and I will have under estimated by about £500.
Will we have to pay this back, even though they've put the payment down?
Thanks,

Hi, will my son child tax credit will be stopped from 5th April 2012 because the income of 2011-12 totally income is more than 2010/11 of the following:
Housing Benefit £6443.45
Council Tax Benefit £1241.61
ESA £7279.20
DLA £2366.40
CB £974.40
CTC £2675.52
Total Income: £20980.58 (2011/12)
There is no partner, as I am a lone parent and still on ESA on support group with one son living with me.
Do I need to tell tax credit of the total income above ?0 -
hi.
today i called tax credits as i was paid early due to the bank holiday weekend but seemed to be missing our working tax payment.
whilst speaking to the guy at tax credits he informed me that i wasnt entitled to tax credits anymore due to my partner only working 20 hours a week.
obviously i was very confused as my partner works 26 hours a week. i then found out that they still had him down as working at his old job where he worked 20 hours a week.....he worked there nearly 3 years ago and has been at his current job for 30 months.
everytime i renewed the tax credits i always phoned. im positive i told them of the change during one of these phonecalls.
my concern now is what will happen? ive always given them his full yearly wages before tax so i technically shouldnt have received an overpayment but im concerned as this information hasnt been changed for almost 3 years.
he told me he was changing the information n that i will receive a letter confirming the change soon i said to him i dont understand how they still have this old job as his current employer and said the only thing i could think it will be is the person who dealt with my claim didnt listen and didnt change the information.
will i be charged a penalty for any of this?
if anyone knows please reply as im so concerned.0 -
I work 16hrs but under new rules have to somehow find an extra 8 hrs - but i am also a carer -anyone clarify situ regarding carers?
My wife is also a carer -but is not in employment
Oh well, never mind.0 -
I have two questions regarding tax credits:
1. I an disabled and currently work 21 hours per week. Do the new rules affect me?
2. Does HMRC contact me for renewing tax credits or do I contact them?
