This offer was supposed to work by combining 2 pairs of glasses - buy 1 get one free at £55, then using a code to get £30 off and then paying £4 P & P.
When I tried to buy 2 pairs at £55, it came up at £55, however as soon as I added the discount code to take off the £30 it didn't take off £30 - only the P & P.
Has anyone else had this problem? I don't really need 2 pairs so wont be using this offer as I can buy 1 pair locally cheaper.
****Found out the problem - don't cut and paste the offer code. It only works if you re-type it!*****0 -

Type 39dg-ruler.pdf into Google and this will point you to a site with good instructions.
Print off the ruler (at actual size !), check that the scale is accurate against that old ruler you had from school and measure as directed in the mirror.
Should work fine for single vision lenses, varifocals will probably need a professional though.
PS. this gives PD for each eye. If they are the same (nearly always the case) just add the two and enter that. But if your eyes give different numbers look for an option to enter separate R and L figures on the site.0 -
Does anyone know if Asda still do the deal where ultra thin and light lenses are the same price as normal lenses if you prescription requires them?0

ReglazeMyGlasses, you have to ask MSE for permission to post.
As regards Trust Pilot, you pay them a fee and in return you're allowed to vet all reviews. Many unscrupulous companies delete the bad reviews and add plenty of decent, made up ones of their own. Of course I'm not saying you do that...
When a customer buys a product from a website that uses trustpilot, the customers order confirmation also gets sent to trustpilot. Trustpilot then uses the info on the order confirmation to generate an invitation to review. This invitation is held back in limbo for a set period of days, for example 5, to allow for the product to be delivered to the customer.
It used to be the case that companies were able to remove these invitations while they were still in limbo. However, they have never been able to vet reviews once they have been submitted. Once a bad review is written, it is there for good.
Some time ago Trustpilot removed the ability for its users to remove invitations in limbo, so now companies are not even able to do what I have described above....so now once a customer places an order, they are guaranteed to get an invitation to review.“Official Company Representative

Note that reglazemyglasses ask their customers to put a review up on mse with the carrot of being entered into a draw for a £120 pair of raybans. (Though they don't say exactly when the draw will take place)., though do suggest ebaying them if you win??
They are cheap, but very slow, and other online companies match their prices with much quicker turnround. It looks like they are a selling outfit who outsource the work which may account for the weeks involved in waiting.
We do not enter people into a draw for leaving a review on MSE. Even if we did want to, this would be impossible, as we would be unable to know which of our customers had written the reviews on MSE's forums.
We do enter people into a monthly draw, for writing a review, good or bad...we do not in anyway try to influence the result of the review, and people leaving a good review have no better chance at winning than those who leave a bad one.
We do not outsource our work. We use our own lab for all cutting and glazing of lenses. The only time a pair of glasses will leave us to go to another company will be if a specialist lens coating needs applying, such as a mirror coating to some sunglasses, or if a frame needs repairing which we can no do in our own lab....for example a titanium frame, if broken, can only be soldered in a vacuum, which requires equipment that a glazing lab generally wouldn't have.“Official Company Representative

nomoretears? wrote: »Reglaze my glasses!! I had a terrible experience with this company sorry! I was told by a friend to get my new frames (from TK Maxx £8!!) glazed online. The order service was ok, but the finished product was awful. They're weren't that helpful when I complained. I used another online company and got them done again, properly and it actually cost less and was done quicker.
I am sorry to hear this. Carly and I who deal with all customer queries work very hard to deal with all issues to a satisfactory outcome, so I am surprised and disappointed that you have had this issue.
I can't find any details on our system which relate to any glazing issues that were not closed and reached customer approval, so it would be great if you could please get in touch with us so we can try and do something for you in a way of apology, even though you have now resolved your problem.“Official Company Representative

Has anyone used the SpeccyFourEyes offer? I tried it for the Ghost glasses with the Pack 2 for anti reflection lenses, and it didn't work. Tried entering all the different promotional offers in case it was listed under the wrong one, as well as trying it with just the standard free lenses, but none of them work. Has anyone had any luck?
Thanks.0 -
I tried a £99 Ghost pair which was meant to make them £19 but it didn't work. Tried all the vouchers and the £14 one worked - but didn't make them £14, it took off £45?! Hope it does work, really love the glasses!0

The code worked OK for the glasses reduced to £6. I tried the Ghost ones too but that didn't work for me either.0 -
Is there any chance of you having an new editorial policy of not using "We've blagged a deal!" on items when your staff have negotiated a cash fee in return for you directing your readers to a commercial operation.
"We've negotiated a deal" sounds just as good and does not distort most peoples understanding of the word blagged. For instance, when I buy a pint of milk in a shop, I'd be laughed at if I claimed I'd blagged it.0
