Hi everyone. I work at Glasses Direct and want to offer a massive apology for the problems people have been having with this offer. This was meant to expire on Monday, tonight, but instead expired on Saturday night. This was a huge mistake on our part (actually me) and completely unintentional. To try and make amends we've put the code live again - GD30OFFSUN - and have extended it to work through until this Wednesday midnight instead of tonight.
We're in the process of refunding all orders where the code was used but didn't take discount away. There's a lot of work to do here so please bear with us - we will make sure that all orders and discounts are honoured. If you placed an order with the code between Sunday morning and about 10:30 this morning and haven't seen the discount applied or refunded by tomorrow lunchtime then please email us with your order details at ask@glassesdirect.co.uk.
Sorry again personally from myself and all at Glasses Direct.
Best wishes

I have just tried to purchase two pairs and the discount does work BUT it does charge £5 per pair for lenses so:
Howard Glasses (£55) with Bronze Package Lenses (£5) = £60
Thomas Glasses (£0) with Bronze Package Lenses (£5) = £5
Delivery Charge = £3.95
Total = £68.95 Less GD30OFFSUN = £38.95
So is that correct that lenses are extra? It was my understanding that the deal included the standard lenses? (Bronze Package was the cheapest option)0 -

The trick is to not select ANY package and just go on to the next page when ordering. The Bronze package adds an anti-scratch coating to the lens for an extra £5 - not a bad idea anyway, I did it to one pair of my order last week.
Also, for those who miss this deal there is another GlasesDirect code - SAVE40FD - which gives 40% off the frames with free P&P up to the 31st of July.
I used it last week.
Any of the £55 frames ---- 2 pairs of glasses with standard lenses for £33 total including postage.
If you are forking out for posher frames - that could save mega-bucks. :j0 -
I ordered 2 pairs of glasses with free tinted lenses from glasses direct. I chose dark grey for both pairs. They arrived this morning. The lenses are differ colours and only slightly tinted nothing like the prescription sunglasses that I have ordered from budgetspex in the past. Nothing wrong with the prescription but hardly sunglasses. Not sure if I can do anything about that. Good deal but disappointed with the result.0

Call GlassesDirect and complain, they should fix it.
I had two pairs (dark grey) from them last summer (remember summer?) and they were dead right first time, jet black visually, dark grey when looking through them and with the aviator style frames I ordered, just so cooool.:cool:0 -

Thanks I have emailed them and they have sent me returns form. I wasn't sure if that was the extent of the tint but if you had dark glasses then they are obviously not right. Will see what happens next. No rush still waiting for sun, maybe next year0 -

Hiya
I recently bought glasses using the discount (absolute bargain, plus arrived in under a week), and got some discount codes 'for a friend' in the parcel.
If anyone wants to use it, I've got 20% off, expires 31/07/2012, good for up to 3 uses.
Code: HFD-QNY-SXK
Not sure if it'll work with the other discounts, but surely worth a try!

Hi,
So I ordered a pair from Lensway on 20/6. Paid £29 for the glasses and lenses, £5 for shipping and £6 for insurance. I was impressed with the service and speed but have had some problems. I ordered Joseph Marc 4074 Black.
1) My first frame one of the lenses was loose. Emailed them. They sent out a replacement and a post sticker for return. Happy.
2) Second pair arrived. The frame was chipped. They must have trouble getting the lenses in. Anyway emailed them and no response. So called them on 27/7. They said they would be sending another pair out but have yet to receive this.
3) Under the Distance Selling Regulations companies cannot charge for insurance.
From the OFT guidelines for Distance Selling (for sellers)
Can I charge the consumer the cost of insuring items that
I send out?
3.20 No. These items belong to you until they have been accepted by your consumer. So you cannot charge your consumers for carrying risks
that you should bear. See paragraph 3.36 for more information
So I emailed them. Took a long time to reply but I got a refund for the £5.99 but it was a bit of a bullsh*t response. See below.
"Thank you for your recent order with Lensway UK.
Our sincere apologies for any inconvenience caused. Upon review of your rights when buying at a distance, and consulting with my superiors, I was able to gain approval to refund you in the amount of the handling fee on your order, £5.99.
However, please be advised that in the Terms and Conditions under "Applicable Law" it is agreed upon prior to completing your purchase that you are to be responsible for compliance with applicable local laws. Our further apologies if this was not made more clear during your order process.
I apologize again for the inconvenience this may have caused you, and thank you for your patience and understanding. We greatly appreciate you as a customer and look forward to continuing to do business with you in the future. Should you require anything further, please do not hesitate to contact us again."
So some help for you guys to get the insurance refunded. I hope I am right on this :-) but the money has come into my PayPal account
I think that these guys are based in the US. Although they have a UK registered address. Ideas?
Anyway a tip to get £6 back.0 -
Hi, have been searching round the high street for a new pair of specs, and finally decided on some Karen Millen frames ( I like both the KM0087 and KM0100 styles) I've been shopping round t'internet for them, they were £125 in specsavers, have found them in a few places for around the £80/£90 mark, but then found them on Cheapglasses2u?co.uk for around £50, which is obviously a big saving, but am just wondering if anyone else has used them? Tried ringing them earlier to check their genuineness but I went through to voicemail. Maybe it's just another case of "if it's too good to be true, then it probably is"
Any help much appreciated.
