Would just like to ask, anyone have transition lenses? I got some from a website and the tint isn't dark enough to shield my eyes in bright light. Is this normal (i.e. transition lenses are useless) or should I avoid the website in future?
I wouldn't say transitions are useless. I've worn transition lenses for years and they get dark enought shield the sunlight and return to transparancy after 10 minutes inside. For me transitions are great. I assume it is the quality from your retailer that is bad.

I used SelectSpecs three years ago, and brought two really nice pairs of glasses, and was really impressed with their customer service. Last year I tried them again for another two pairs, and was disappointed - the glasses took a month to arrive, I wasn't able to contact anyone by phone (I had contacted SelectSpecs by phone without any problems on my first order), and responses to my emails were quite rude and unhelpful. It put me off ever using them again, and I think that when I originally used them, they had a UK presence, which they don't have any longer.

I ordered two pairs from Lensway yesterday as part of their offer; I was a little frustrated by the huge number of 'coupon not valid' on glasses above £69 (so much for the £99 frames on the weekly email!) but I managed to pick up two pairs for £20 including insurance/delivery. Fingers crossed they look good when they arrive!

I just got my sunglasses from Mister Spex - (only online designer glasses and sunglasses) and they sent me a code anyone can use - Spexyeyewear2011
I'm completely happy with my Oakleys  and they come with guarantees etc. The code is only 5% though, but off anything (i.e. contact lenses too)
    enjoy

How? You can only get one free pair once. Unless you used two names/addresses and two coupons?

Last time they did it a few months ago the prices went up the day before.

The glasses I bought for £9 are £29 now and the glasses I was going to get which were £29 before are now £99. How can they justify the huge variance from one to the other price?

Their cheapest glasses are £29 plus delivery and insurance.

I ordered a pair of glasses from the lensway offer. 1.6 lenses giving a total of £32, I'll be very impressed if they are as good as they looked. Surprising how many better frames were excluded from the offer though.

As the above post points out, I read that you can only order one pair of glasses from a PC, even posted to different addresses. They must note your IP, so I don't know if I could use this offer again from my PC. Even for another person in the household. Does anyone know?

The offer has expired, as the coupon code no longer works. But for again, you need to know that they look at orders from the same IP address and compare the prescription. All orders with the same prescription are then cancelled, except for one. So I think you will be OK with differing prescriptions from the same PC in different names (but don't try to buy them on the same account - log-in separately).

To be honest, the use of an HTTP proxy will ensure that your orders have differing IP addresses! :rotfl:
  • Has anyone else still to receive their glasses after ordering from the May special offer?

I keep being fobbed off with excuses for delay. Is the whole thing a scam?

I bought from Asda on the high-street and was less happy. Tempted to try online but heard of a lot of horror stories especially around size.
