OP, I would say that driving at 50 on a dual carriageway or motorway is almost as dangerous as driving at 90. One of the main issues is speed differentiation. If people all drive at the same speed, there's no need to overtake or make sweeping manoeuvres.
This is why they have minimum speed limits in the States...0 -

So that's why LGV's are limited to 56?0 -

I get where I am going a few minutes later, less stressed and I have used less fuel.
If someone wants to drive faster than me, that's their choice, it's just funny how I quite often catch them up on the slip road 2 junctions down waiting at the lights.
If at first you don't succeed, try, try, try - oh bu99er that just cheat0 -
Dual Carriageway with NSL.Not likely on a driving test.
I did on my driving test! The A1 Gateshead western bypass (one of the busiest roads in Europe) no less!
Anyway, have they changed the test recently as I thought the "adequate progress" part was only part of the advanced test?0 -
I seldom go above 60 on the motorway but stay in the left lane, quite often a safe distance behind a lorry - what's dangerous about that!

No problem at all when someone has room to overtake. But it's still frustrating when I'm doing 70mph and a car pulls out to overtake a 56mph lorry at 58mph.
But that's nothing compared with those doing 40mph on a single carriageway, often when the single carriageway as a better alignment than some motorways!0 -

Why does driving at the speed limit make you stressed?0 -
