why are people still driving too fast?

You try sitting behind someone doing 45 on a 60mph road for 2 hours on a road that doesn't have many dual carriageway parts or overtaking opportunities, especially if the tailback is so long there are an awful lot of cars wanting to overtake...
Haven't done exactly that so I'll give that a go* - although what do you expect me to do. Do you just want me to try it? It won't change my opinion. There are already enough people who consider the road their property, I wouldn't want to add one more.
*(I have sat behind a tractor doing far less than that for about 45 minutes in Devon though)0 -

Travelling at 45mph you will do 90 miles in those 2 hours, travelling at 60mph and you'll go 100 miles.
Going at 45mph it will take you an extra 13 minutes to do those extra 10 miles. Not going to be the end of the world, hardly a big time difference! What is pi? Where did it come from?0 -
The most fuel efficient way to drive is not too brake!0

60mph for 2 hours?
Someone please do the math for KierNet.....
Ok... I'll do it!
120 miles!!!
Lets also cover the argument from another angle.
Driver A is in 4th gear doing 50mph, the engine doing say 3500 rpm
Driver B is in 5th gear doing 70mph, the engine is doing say 2000 rpm
In 4 hours driving:
Driver A has gone 200 miles
Driver B has gone 280 miles
Nobody can deny that an engine will use less fuel at 2000 rpm!!!
So driver B has done more MPG than driver A whilst driving faster
Similarly I could drive around at 35 in 2nd gear all day long and get about 20mpg.....“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

Even I want to see that calculation! I make 2 x 60 = 120.
As above, look at percentages and compare. You driving 25% slower than me will make my journey 33% longer.
If I went into a shop and picked something up and went to pay...but then a quarter was chopped off and I was charged 33% more for the privilege, I'd be aggrieved.0 -

I think your maths is a bit off there. 60mph for 2 hours you'll cover 120 miles, so it would take you 40 minutes at 45mph to do the extra 30 miles.0
