when I got the car, my mpg was better at 60-70mph than at 50mph as I used the onboard computer alot then as it was a new toy!!! so you are not really saving fuel at 50mph...0 -

Sarcasm of course, but this logic is just as flawed as yours.0 -
That's a matter of opinion.
Yeah - and so is what you call the fast lane and the slow lane, but that didn't stop you expressing yours did it re what motorway lanes should be called! Did you read the OP and know what this thread is about - or did you come on here to try and patronise people?
If you want to tootle along listening to Beetoven at 30mph, I hope im not stuck behind you, you sound like you've got a great personality! ZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzThe opposite of what you know...is also true0 -

Perhaps some of the drivers always in a hurry should move to Jersey;

I would say driving at 50mph on a dual carriageway or motorway is dangerous. It's practically driving without due care.
So lorries driving at 56mph are driving without due care?Road_Traffic_Act_1988,_s3 wrote:If a person drives a mechanically propelled vehicle on a road or other public place without due care and attention, or without reasonable consideration for other persons using the road or public place, he is guilty of an offence
The definition of 'driving without due care'.Jeff_Bridges_hair wrote: »Thats because they are limited to do so - Im sure they would go faster is they could but they could be more dangerous if going faster
Surely as they are limited to 56mph, its seen as a safe speed for them to drive at?Strider590 wrote: »
The national speed limit for a motorway and dual carriageway is 70mph!!!
My car hates doing 45-50, it's not quite fast enough for 5th gear!!! which means im either laboring the engine in 5th or over revving in 4th!
Speed does NOT equate to fuel consumption!
Do you drive around with only your parking lights on too? to save fuel?
Its a speed limit, you don't have to do that speed, if it annoys you that much if someone is going at 50mph on a motorway/dual carriageway, simply check your mirrors, signal, and overtake.
I used to get annoyed by people driving slowly, but grown up a lot since I passed my test at 17 (plus it helped only being able to drive a car that struggled to get to 70!).
If someone wants to drive at 50mph, I'll overtake when its safe, adds a few seconds onto my trip.
If you get that stressed/annoyed by people on the roads, then you shouldn't be on the road in my opinion. What is pi? Where did it come from?0 -
It's worth noting that strider590 believes that slow(er) drivers are dangerous because they incite road rage in faster road users, causing them to perform dangerous moves, sometimes leading to 'accidents'. Obviously the fault of the slower driver.
I'll freely admit I get annoyed by slow drivers sometimes - but lets face it, there are worse things that can happen to you in life. Just grin and bear it.0 -

You try sitting behind someone doing 45 on a 60mph road for 2 hours on a road that doesn't have many dual carriageway parts or overtaking opportunities, especially if the tailback is so long there are an awful lot of cars wanting to overtake...0 -

C'mon, 2 hours is stretching it a bit.
I am sure your routes would have differed in far less time than that.;)0
