If it's a pub car-park then it would be on private land (nothing to do with the council). So just treat as any other private parking ticket and ignore. By the way, this is not a "fine", it's an unenforceable invoice!
What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?

If it is a free carpark there is no consequential loss to claim in court anyway, for a breach of an implied contract.

There are no rules and there are no fines, so yes ignore, ignore, ignore some more.

I would've thought that a pub would welcome it's patrons parking their cars on their own land, especially if the driver had had a few sherbets! I know one of my locals does.(They will even call you a taxi)

It's not about 'rules', why do people get confused with these fake tickets?

It is really really simple, just look at the heading on the [STRIKE]ticket[/STRIKE] piece of rubbish. :D

    'Parking Charge Notice' = IGNORE

'Penalty Charge Notice' = Appeal all the way (Council tickets can very often be overturned)

(And Police 'Fixed Penalties', normally just pay them as your only line of appeal would be to a magistrate).
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Thanks for the replys...its my daughter who got the fine....she was late for college and parked on the pub carpark...when she got back she had a 60 quid ticket.....apparently the carpark was empyt....she has on occasion used the pub carpark before ( but had lunch in thre as well) but the cps parking is a new feacture...apparntly a lot of tickets were issued that day.....so i can see y the pub has introduced there measures if its carpark was alwyas full of students parking ...but 60 quid for 3 hours a bit steep...will get her to ignore it for now and make sure she never parks ther again....unless of course she eating there....
can I take it that the pub is close to the college?

did your daughter or her fellow students ask the landlord for permission to park?

what is the new max. parking time imposed?

I can well understand the l/lord getting frustrated by non-customers (students) parking on his land, but it looks as if he's fallen into the trap of signing over the management of his park to a PPC.

yr daughter should follow all the above advice and ignore the 'ticket', not responding to any of the quite nasty threatening letters she'll receive from cps or their debt-collectors.

but she shouldn't tempt fate; clamping (if signposted) could be used. repeat parking could provide cps with a half-decent case in a county court. avoid the park in the near future and advise her student mates to do the same. if any of them have rec'd 'tickets' tell them to come over here for reassurance.

public hostility to PPC's is growing and some of this hostility is being directed toward associated businesses. maybe you could call by the pub in question and mention this to the l/lord.

No the students did not talk to the landlord, its a managed pub, a whitbread, a lot of the students have paid the fine already, as the wording on it is very strong, it says they will get the ploice involved if the fine not paid, which would put the frighteners on a lot of students, who are now applying for uni places, the last thing they want is any kind of police record which would damaged there applications.

Iv told her to sit tight and to just ignore the fine, she only in the uk for another 4 months anyway as she doing a cap year in china, what she most worried about is it going to court, i have tried to reassure her things will be ok , and as she lives with her dad and stepmum the threat of bailiffs(if it goes that far surly would not apply, unless of cours they take her car as that is all she owns)

im in the uk next week, so im going to check out the pub, think whitbreads not done themselves any favours though , as alll the students will now not drink or eat in the pub now.....pubs are closing every week , this si the wrong tactic they have resorted too, the handfull of students that parked on the carpark even when the pub busy filled up all the available space, in fact the students that parked there would often on returning for there cars nip in the pub for lunch.....

You can put your Daughters mind at rest and let her know, and to inform all the other students, whoever quoted that the "Police" will be informed on a ticket placed on a car is talking from their backside. Also this is not a "fine" the only place you can receive a "fine is a magistrates/crown court. Police and local authority's can issue fixed penalty's. Private parking companies can issue speculative invoices!

The only law that may have been breached is the law of trespass which is a civil matter. It has nothing to do with the Police nor would they have anything to do with this matter unless a breach of the peace was occurring!

By using the word "fine" and threatening "Police" action they have made any unenforceable invoice even more unenforceable!

There is about as much chance of this company taking your daughter to court, as there is of her winning the Euro millions next Friday. Even if they did she would almost [STRIKE]certainly[/STRIKE] definitely win any action.

Bailiffs can not come to anybodies home before they jump a lot of hurdles, They may send letters and make threats of sending them but the truth is they just cant. They would need to take your Daughter to court. Almost certainly they wont! They would have to win almost definitely they wont. Your Daughter would have to fail to pay any order and they would have to return to court to ask them to issue a warrant.

Tell your Daughter to relax, ignore any threats, explain to her Dad and stepmum this is a flim flam trick. The chances of anything happening are almost zero!

As a word of warning it is unlikely but advise her to be careful it has been known although it is illegal for these sharks to clamp, for unpaid charges, or just throw a sign up and clamp. Now it is illegal but once these parasites have the boot on your wheel, there is not a lot you can do except cut it off, or pay. So best advice is find somewhere else to park. However tell her to forget the invoice and concentrate on her studies!;)

Thank you so much for the advice, i have re read what i posted, it was ment to read...even when the pub busy with the handful of students parked there , there were still a lot of available spaces........i just wish the other kids hadnt paid up already, because you know its the parents who would have coughed up, not many kids have a spare 60 quid hanging around, will get her to tell her dad and explaine the situation, and any mail they recieve concerning the fine to throw in the bin.....
