You still do not appear to have made any valid arguments for why the fee is unlawful.
I didn't write that it was unlawful.

So the situation now is turn up at the airport without a boarding card and you pay £40 for a new one.

And if the ruling is upheld the rule will be if you turn up at the airport without a boarding card then you cannot fly.

    Well done to that judge!

If a passenger has to check luggage (which I presume RyanUnfair still allows) are not those desks manned?

There is no law that states an airline must allow passengers to take hold luggage.

Well no, but it would be a sorry excuse for an airline if it didn't, don't you think? Plus I think you might find that there would be insufficient space in the overhead bins for 189 x 55cm x 40cm x 20cm which equates to over 8,300 litres and the best part of two tonnes above our heads if everyone started toeing a line like that :p.

That leads me to ponder - I wonder what Ryanair does with its empty hold space? It seems to me it almost never uses the rear hold and that the front one is rarely anywhere near full.

Surely it isn't green to fly so many route miles with an empty hold? No law against it mind ...

Flown many times with RyanAir and on the whole, usually more than SATISIFIED. They do work out cheaper than most and their route is ideal for my situation (avoid LONDON is a god send for me).

My only problems with them are:

---> piling on extra fees as you go through the booking process.
I can sort of understand how some people are annoyed by the price you see at the start of the booking, not being anywhere near the end of the booking and I don't know why Ryan Air just don't add things like the issuing of a boarding card fee, or luggage in at the START of the process and then in the case of luggage take them off to see the price go DOWN. It probably wouldn't work, but it might stop the moaning on forums like this, or turn into new moans. It is always going to be hard to do because of the booking process that Ryan Air does and the super low prices it likes you to see at the start of it. For me, Ryan always works out cheaper than anyone else for my route, even with the extra charges.

---> hassle and hoop jumping to get a prepaid mastercard for Average Joe
this is a sneaky little fee really from Ryan Air in my opinion - I am in the process of getting a card just for Ryan Air bookings now (otherwise NO REQUIREMENT in my life for such a thing). BUUUT, how long will it be before they remove this option too? Who knows? Admittedly they are not alone in limiting free payment options but this is not necessarily making life easy for their customers IMO.

15Kg limit too low for families with a baby
---> travelling light is not easy when you have a baby or two - you pay 20 EUR for the baby and they need lot of stuff too and this is part of the parent's 15Kg limit. There are ways around the 15Kg limit but this would make like so much easier if it was up at 20Kg like most other airlines. I can live with 15Kg but would prefer 20Kg. 20Kg for each passenger who pays 20 EUR for "infant under two" would be a lot easier. Infants and planes though, I really don't expect any sympathy from the majority of non-parents on this forum!

ALSO I think the difference between 30EUR for 15Kg and 50 EUR for 20Kg is ridiculous:

    15Kg for 30 EUR = €2.00 per kilo
20Kg for 50 EUR = €2.50 per kilo (the first 15 Kg now costs €37.50 - is this €7.50 an "added extra" now all of a sudden for essentially what is the SAME THING?)

    a little unfair IMO

    ---> printing own boarding cards
I generally don't have a problem doing this - but certainly, you should not forget, although this seems "cheaper" it was mentioned before that the printing of your boarding card requires a computer and a printer ... and the printer needs ink/toner ... and these are costs we are all paying unless we are doing it on the sly using equipment at work. We all pay for it really.

---> priority boarding means only "bundled on the bus first" and "wait for non-priority boarding passengers to come on behind you and get out of bus first"
this is a con and is solely dependent on airport. Some airports you really do get on the plane first, others you end up on the transit bus first, then non-priority pile on behind you, which means they get out of the bus first!! Not entirely Ryan Air's fault, but they introduced the system, and customers PAY for something, so they ensure that it is upheld - I would appreciate a list of airports on here that don't actually adhere to the Ryan Air priority boarding rules (can confirm Bratislava DO have a fair system). Is there a thread?

Overall though, I am satisifed with Ryan Air and I do agree with the majority here that "if you play them at their own game and follow the rules" you can usually get a good deal on a flight.

I have just done a comparison with RyanUnfair and British Airways on two adults, one teenager and an infant. I selected Ibiza from London, traveling and returning at the end of June, one bag each.

RyanUnfair=£494.82 (before any credit fees fees or boarding card fees [are these per ticket?])

    Briotish Airways=£505.00

Then I suggest you do it again, or let us all know how you managed it.
