we've got 2 pret's Miss G, ooh and printers dotted around the airport for people to print off their boarding passes.

In response to "why didnt ryanair tell the passenger about the printers" well maybe because they want to charge the passenger a poop load of cash rather than assisting them by directing them to the printers?

Jesus, the riddles on this thread are giving me a headache.
  • We flew to Dublin via Ryanair recently for £6 per person return (we used a pre-paid master card to circumvent the £5 each way booking fee). Say what you like about Ryanair (and their rather odious IMO CEO), if you play them at their own game they are absolutely unbeatable on price. It took us 5 minutes to print out our boarding passes and place them with our luggage (2x Sub-0-G cabin cases!). Seriously, what's difficult about that? I agree with previous posters, this sort of thing which is supposedly 'included' with other airlines you are paying for in with the bigger prices. I like the idea of being able to not pay for stuff I can very easily do myself.

Sounds like a holiday in itself (though possibly a more expensive one than flying with Ryanair)! ;)

I get the feeling Flyboy152 is trying to make a point, but doesn't seem to want to actually say it? ;)

I remember the good old days at Stansted when you could get something at Burger King before your allocated seating Go flight and stood a good chance of getting through immigration on a Sunday night and make the 23.30 Stansted Express to Tottenham Hale.

This is just a story about someone complaining effectively against unscrupulous means of redistribution of wealth isn't it, like so many aspects of life in 2011?

Do those of you apologists for Ryanair on this thread really suppose that the fines Ryanair take off passengers like Senor Garcia are redistributed in the guise of cheaper tickets for you?

Do you also perhaps hold some general belief that if you let a spiv force his hand to the bottom of your pocket that the end result will be orgasmic?

    For the spiv, maybe.

Bankers bonuses? Who pays those - are they penalties or fines or just the way it is? They are pretty orgasmic - for some ... (spivs)

The trouble is that in 2011, you can usually trust a lawyer to support the way it is ... not the way it should be. It's easier for lawyers to earn a crust both this week and next if they don't rock too many rich people's boats.

Sure, any of us can try to show a lawyer the way it should be and it may cost us dear to get the support we need for an end result like this, so hats off to Senor Garcia ;), who sounds just like the sort of lawyer this world needs :T

Above all else, this is also a story about a principled person's pursuit of truth. Good luck to him at the Appeal.

Because you can't print them last minute. I think you have to do it 4 hrs before departure?
However i would suspect the person who forgets to print his boarding pass has also forgotten his passport and left something on the stove.

    Made me laugh that!

As others said i don't see the problem with printing in advance, definitely better having that option than having it incorporated in the cost as with other airlines. The reason they fine is to try and get extra money for them and also to force people into printing in advance, reducing their overheads which seems fair enough. As long as they keep offering flights at the prices they do i am happy with them

Major airlines hide the cost of the check in process and boarding card process in their ticket prices, whereas RyanAir make the cost transparent and give the ability for the customer to avoid it.

I was not given the chance to avoid a check in fee when I booked a Ryanair flight last week. Or in fact when I booked one last month. I was forced to pay £5 for the priveledge of using my own electricity, paper and printer ink.

I begrudge the unavoidable online check-in fee, because it IS unavoidable. And I don't buy the "it is avoidable if you book the Free online check in" fares, as these are not available for all flights.

Surely theres a simple solution to all those people who have an issue with ryanair, just dont use them!!!

Simple really, that means more seats for those people who are capable of reading their terms and conditions.

For those people who call the likes of me a Ryanair "apologist" well I just tell it how I find it, i've never, and I mean never, had a problem with any of my multiple ryanair flights, and on each occasion I have flown with them I could'nt find a cheaper ticket to the same destination with another carrier.
