Found a few more productions to apply for now! Yay, I'm gonna send me CV to them, and one is a company I've worked for numerous times in the past, so good chance too. Fingers crossed!0

I've been searching for a permanent job for over 18 months! I finally got a job last September and it was the job from hell. Since I started the job from hell, I've applied for about 7 or 8 jobs a week. I went on about 6 interviews. Got to second interview stage twice!
Received many an email saying thank you but no thank you, but we'd like to keep your details on our database! (do they ever look at that database again?).
Oh, and then this....... I got to 2nd interview for a job as a PA in January 2010! They said that it was so close, they could have tossed a coin! But the other girl got the job! Anyway, the job was only advertised again, a year later! January 2011! And of course, I was still on the market. I applied and didn't even get a response!
Luckily, though, I finally got a great job and I start Monday. Its a lovely feeling. But all I can say to those still looking is.... keep at it, don't give up, keep applying. Once applied, forget about it unless you get a surprise response! Apply, apply apply. Sometimes, when I got down after yet another rejection, i'd want to give up. But I shook myself down and started applying again for jobs the next day. That new job offer WILL eventually come through.. but only if you don't give up. I've been rejected for not being good enough, for being too good, over qualified, etc. etc. But just remember, the job for you is waiting, and its only a matter of time.0 -
Jerryjerryjerry, thank you for your post. That's exactly what I needed to read tonight. I had yet another "it was between you and someone else, quite close, but not you" results today, and it was getting me down. I've been looking for work for a year now, with only a short temp job to show for it all.
Congrats on your new job, may it be all you hoped for, and more!0 -
I had my interview this morning for the events organiser job. I hardly slept last night for worrying, and was up at 6 feeling nervous as hell. The interview was more of a chat, with a couple of lads who can't be much older than me and I felt much more comfortable than in past interviews, although with it been a bit much informal I did come out thinking there was so much more I could have said. They told me they would let me know Mon/Tues. So another weekend watching my phone hoping for it to ring.
BUT
Two hours after getting home, my phone rang and
I HAVE THE JOB! :j:j
It's far from perfect. 6 month contract, part-time, rubbish money and a good half hour away from home but it's great experience. I wouldn't be considered for a similar role under normal circumstances so I am greatful for the opportunity. I can build up a portfolio and if I decide it's for me hopefully take the next step in a few months time.
I haven't got a start date but I am just so looking forward to Monday morning waking up and not having to start the job search straight away for the first time in a long long time. I'll start up applying again in a month or so but for now I am just so pleased for a break from it all.
Keep going everyone. I was gutted last week to be turned down for a dull office job that wasn't me at all, and it just goes to show that the perfect job (well, as perfect as it gets at the moment) is just around the corner!0 -
Congratulations Lexilex. I am really pleased for you, I know you've been desperate to get back to work, this must have given you a real boost to your confidence.
Have a good weekend, make sure you do something to celebrate.
I seem to have had nothing but rejections this week unfortunately.0 -
I've had a pretty bad week this week. I could only find one job to apply for - I'm hoping its because its half term! I used to love weekends when I was a worker but now it gets to Friday and I think to myself another week where I haven't moved on. Hopefully next week will be better though (I can live in hope).0

I had too much work to do yesterday which means I couldn't do the telephone interview.... I called the recruitment agent as soon as I could to advise, she didn't sound too happy with me but what can I do? it would have been unprofessional of me to disappear for 15-20 mins and I don't think she would have liked it if I disappeared to do an interview whilst on an assignment she arranged for me. Perhaps I should have been given more notice so I could make arrangements as opposed to calling me at the end of the working day to tell me I have a telephone interview the next morning.
I might have a telephone interview on Monday but if it doesn't happen I wouldn't care... the commuting time there an back is ridiculous! and I've been warned the potential boss is a real difficult a-hole.... not sure I want to work for someone like that. Probably just as well.
I applied for a few jobs over the course of the week but have heard nothing back.....*sigh*0 -
Well done Lexilex that's great news!! :j
I hear back from my interview next Thursday. The nursery was really lovely, there's only one thing I'm not keen on and that's that they have all meals delivered in from an outside company so all children and staff have the same. I can't have dairy, am a really fussy eater and also have IBS! So not being able to take my own food in for lunch does bother me. I may not even get the job yet so probably no point in me worrying about this :rotfl:Saved: £1566.53/ £20000 -

Brilliant News Lexilex, really pleased for you.

I've got IBS as well and sometimes follow a dairy free diet, its ruddy horrible isn't it. I'd rather get rid of IBS than find a job   I'm sure you can still take your own food in. They have to respect other diets for whatever reason, and I'm sure its already happened with the children.
PM me if you want to. I'm almost expert in IBS, unfortunately :rotfl:0
