Hello all,
I didn't get the job that I went for on MondayNot much more to say really, I got the email this afternoon, first actual rejection letter I've had.
I know I did the best I could have done, and I doubt I did anything really wrong, just not suitable I guess.
Usually when I've had rejections before (you know when they don't get in touch)I've thought it for the best, as I wouldn't want to be out of my depth etc. But I'm sure I could have done this one, and I surpose it helps to think that the company might well have agreed with me. Its just that someone came along more suited I guess.
I emailed my friend from where I used to work and she sent a lovely email back saying how sorry she was and to "keep smiling darling"
Onwards and upwards, as they say.....
Sorry to hear thathave you got other applications that can lead to interviews?

Sorry to hear that. At least like you say you did your best and as my mum always used to say, that's all you can do! Hopefully the perfect job for you is just around the corner.0 -
I have a telephone interview tomorrow.
The job location is close to 2 hours commuting time each way... Hmm.0 -
Hi,
Best of luck to those with interviews.
Since the beginning of February I've applied for 8 other jobs, so you never know what might turn up0 -
It's just so hard to not take it personally. Did they not like me? Why does nobody want me?
Chin up...tomorrow is a new day and you are a day closer to finding the job you really want.
You admit you would have struggled in that role...that will show up at interview with the more natural candidates being able to show off knowledge. Not in the same league I know but if a Hospital is hiring a surgeon i would rather they hire the guy with the medical degree than the 'nice' guy!
99% of the time it won't be anything to do with you but your experience, qualifications and aptitude versus the other candidates.0 -
Well no news form my end yet, i do start to get worried when you dont hear a dickie bird0

Hiya, I can understand why the advise was to pay off debt first, but as you say, a different view here.
Certainly, being able to drive makes life easier. Of the 4 jobs I've had an interview for :rotfl::eek: I wouldn't have been able to apply if it meant going by bus, and I can only think of two at the moment that I could have applied for out of about 30 so far.
Looking at your time scale, I assume you will have to buy another provisional licence which when I learnt about 7 years ago was £39.00 iirc
Driving lessons arnt cheap but I say if you can manage them without getting into trouble in other areas, money wise, that is. The go for it I sayIs there anyone who can offer you private practice to supliment your lessons?
Good Luck
Luckily I don't have to renew my provisional. I got it in 2008, but I want to learn before it expires!
Everyone in the TV industry I've worked with has advised me to learn to drive as about 80% of the jobs need a driving license!
My mum's boyfriend is an instructor so he can give me pointers, but he lives in Tamworth, I live in London! Also London driving will be a bit scary. I've had 1 lesson, with the AA, and they were rubbish! It was a free lesson with Sky mag, and she didn't even check my license!
Next job I get I'm going to put a fair bit in savings to save up for it!
I would do an intensive course, but they're horribly expensive and I feel I learn better in regular lessons. I will be doing 2 hour lessons when I start and twice a week preferably.
I think I'm going to concentrate on saving for driving lessons as well as keeping up my current debt payments and cut back on other things. I get paid soon for my 2 days work so half that is going towards the lessons funds.
So decided, save until I can complete a fair chunk of sessions and book in a big block once I've found a good instructor.
Edit: just remember I should be getting £300 or more in tax back in April, that's lots of driving lessons!0 -
Well it's Friday tomorrow. Last Friday was a great day on this thread, plenty of good news for people. Here's hoping for another day of good news tomorrow.0

Good news, I heard back from my consulting job and will be seeing them on Tuesday, see if I can get that contract on the table again
Just getting a desk there and a work email address would be an incredible boost, rocket fuel.
This has now been on the cards for almost a year so I would advise not to give up!
Hear about perm job on Monday so no use worrying, I think I will be pipped to the post but left a great impression, in a small gossipy industry like mine that means everything
I am applying for just the big jobs now, because it is even harder work to dumb my CV down so why bother, it was killing me. Step up, not down.
So going in to the weekend pretty happy this week, which is something, I wish the same for everyone, a little bit of sunshine0 -
