This is just soul destroying. I really need to find a job before the end of my contract but it feels like I'm banging my head against a brick wall! It feels like I'm constantly waiting for a phone call or an email or something. I trawl through the job websites everyday and apply for anything that is even remotely suitable but have had no luck up till now.
Oh and if one more person tells me that "something will come up" then I may scream!0 -
Morning all,
Nothing available today, although I have found a new way to search on the Job Centre Website.
My post code is LE3, as I'm sure you are all aware, if you want to search further than 15 mile radius, you have to be specific in the field you want to work. Well I don't mind really so that dosn't work for me.
So, I've found that if I enter LE1, LE2, LE3 etc and then refine search, it shows a few more :j , well you never know
Best of luck all.0 -
In a 'just apply for anything' mood today. Never ends well, getting rejected for things not remotely suitable!
The two elaborately tailored exact match to job spec CVs I sent out last week were ignored, so I am going to scale back the tailoring.
The two dumbed down CVs I sent our for customer service work were also ignored, what on earth do they want?! I have years of customer service under my belt (only ever a a part of my jobs and not the whole).

Good morning everyone.
It's job day here today, and there's a few admin jobs to apply for thank god! They will be my first applications of the week and I was starting to panic a little.
Spent the morning changing my CV. Who knew it was so hard to write a profile?
Going to print off some info this afternoon for my interview on Friday. I just don't really know how to prepare. It's a job centre vacancy and I have literally two sentences describing the job. I can't even find any info about the company. I don't want to look like I've done no prep because this is the first job i've been interviewed for that I would LOVE! Anyone any ideas?0 -
I've just found this thread and it's great. I was made redundant last year but didn't mind at the time as I wanted the summer off. However,in the meantime I became a carer for my Dad and any notion of getting a new job went out the window! However, things are looking up re the situation and I'm now applying for jobs, although only part-time at the moment. I have found myself getting totally depressed as it seems there's no structure to my life, I miss interacting with people and I have no money!! I'm in one of those 'just apply for anything' mood as well!! My house and that of my Dad's is immaculate, the freezer is full of batched cooked food, his tablets are well stocked up and I think i'm in danger of boring me and him to death!!!!0

Job centre job specs are just terrible aren't they! You would think in all these years they would get that right.
I would suggest just preparing for your ideal job, and it is kind of good as you will have a lot of questions to ask about the company in the interview, which when you are well researched is sometimes difficult.
On a rollercoaster of emotions about my interview just gone, I find out if I am succesful on Monday, not sure I could take bad news, the job is just so perfect for me.0 -
Seriously depressed now
. Approaching the end of my second month of jobseeking. I had my first interview since the new year on Friday, but was rejected - Strong contender, but someone else was stronger. I keep worrying about the growing gap on my CV, but what can I do..

What about searching for a job specification about the role in general? Or look at companies that do similar work read up on their services and projects and then you can think on how your skills could help you in that role?0 -

Same I'm approaching 2 months unemployed. But don't worry a 2 month gap on your CV isn't that bad. I know someone with a 9 month gap, but has got a job now.0
