  • I'm having a nightmare trying to track people down for references... why does everybody move around so much? Including myself :undecided

Anyway, I hope everyone has a productive day today. Stay positive!

Out of my mind. Back in five minutes.

Think we are all having a down day today.

Really can't be bothered today - think perhaps it is the miserable and cold weather as well as the lack of new opportunities.

Least I have my Dad's car insurance to sort out which is taking a bit of time - and he may let me keep any cashback!

well I got all excited, a letter from a co I applied to before Christmas arrived in the post this lunch time.

Oooh I thought, could it be an invite to an interview, surely they wouldn't write to me after all this time just to say thanks but no thanks.

    :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:Yeah right.

Not sure whats worse, no reply at all or waiting almost 3 months to send a rejection letter lol

    Hello all,

I've been for an interview this morning, it seemed to go okay. They said they would let me know next week. So another week of waiting, as usual :(

But they did say they would let me know one way or the other, so that might be something :)

    Keep postive all :)

I really don't think this miserable gray weather helps the feeling of doom and gloom does it so ((hugs)) to everyone who is feeling rubbish today and good luck to those with interviews!
I have got the job I went for yesterday so will be able to sign off the jsa!!! . I just need to find out when I will start getting payed and get all my money sorted out but its such a relief!
I can now just get on with things without the added pressure from the job center. I will be working around 18 hrs pw with both the jobs I have, so ideally still need one job with more hours iywsim...but I was really at the end of my tether with the whole experience of claiming jsa. So I will keep searching , working , volunteering etc until I get there!.

  • Hello,

I have been following this thread for a while as both OH and myself are looking for work.
I'm on a fixed term contract which finishes soon, and have luckily (??) secured a new job in a call centre (my very worst employment nightmare, but hey its a job)
OH is self employed but its very quiet for him (£30 last week!) and he has been looking for permanent full time work for what seems like forever.

Anyway to cut a long story short i'm just joining in because we are having a down day too....I saw a job for OH on Thursday he rang a couple of times, no answer. Rang on Friday, left a message was told someone would ring back, they didn't, rang again this AM and apparently the vacancy is now closed as they have been inundated  God knows what hes got to do to get a job, honestly his cover letters are getting to sound more and more like begging letters. I think he might as well skip the niceties and just write "pleasssse give me a job!"

Phew, rant over. Think I need a cup of tea now.

Hope other peoples day is better!
  • Just called 4 temping agencies to try and get admin/office work. Sent my CV to them all. Not sure if i'll get anything though as it's been 4 years since I was last in that type of work but got to try it while I wait for Childcare jobs to come my way

I'm joining in with the 'can't be bothered' gang (although I'm forcing my way through this application form. It's slow going though) I think it's the weather too. That and it's a long time to slog without any reward, so to speak. It's hard to sustain your spirits and optimism when everything so far has pointed to the negative.

I hope tomorrow will be better for everyone.

I have an interview tomorrow - It's in the same field but in a totally different role, so even though I've done some studying on techniques and procedures, I'm not that confident. Eeek.

I've found nothing to apply for today, there seems to be hardly anything on the job websites.

I hope your interview went well this afternoon November5th and good luck with yours tomorrow katkim.

I'm going to switch off for the rest of the day and try again tomorrow.
