Just a quick post from me, but I always read through and I'd like to say CONGRATULATIONS to all of you who have just been offered a job, well done!

I've found that when checking JC+ the top trick is to do this: I live in Edinburgh, so my first search is done using the word Edinburgh. This defaults to a particular postcode as the JC categorises all into pre-set postcode areas. The postcode is pretty much the centre of town. So I then do searches for other postcode areas - my home, my last employer, and another couple at the other side of the city. I always find that different vacancies come up with each search, leaving the default at 15 miles.

    Hope that helps x

  • Congrats to those with offers or new plans for progression :T Well done!

Today, I've been filling about an application form for what feels like several years and I'm still not finished  I'm on the old 'what are your hobbies and interests' section now :D

Anyway, hope you're all having a lovely day!

Out of my mind. Back in five minutes.

Application forms seem to get longer and longer. I had quite a few that have been over 10 pages + personal statement! Filling them in is harder than actual work :D
  • Hello jobseekers. I've been lurking for a couple of weeks and finally decided to post. I'm still employed at the moment but only have a week left (I'm a victim of NHS budget cuts). Since I found out that my temporary contract wasn't being renewed I've been applying for jobs (47 so far) and had three interviews but no offers. I'm already getting a bit downhearted and wondering how on earth I am going to survive. I live on my own in a small house with a small mortgage (with only 8 years left to pay) and I am dreading losing my home.

I am now finding out how depressing it is being unemployed (and I'm not actually unemployed yet!) so wanted to say good luck to everybody who is job hunting - my thoughts are with you!

Hi everyone. Got back from what I expected to be a half hour chat at 10.30 (met potential supervisor at 8.30!) and after filling out about ten forms all with the same or very similar info on I am a bit grrrr!!! I know I have to be vetted for the post I am applying for but common sense seems not to apply. You would think if I have a fully enhanced crb cert and work in a school (for the local authority) I am going to be trustworthy?? But noooooooo.....jumping through lots of hoops just for 6 hours work feels a bit ott. But needs must and I do understand that not everyone is as trustworthy as me:A I will find out tomorrow if they are going to offer me the job and will start tomorrow tea time:D (so fingers crossed).

Would love to go to the job center and tell them I don't have to go anymore ...and be bullied/patronized/tarred with the same brush as the work shy:mad: I never want to have to visit that place again ever so for all my grumblings really need this job:o! I can only presume they have no idea how demoralising it is to have to sign on..or maybe that is their intention , but I would have prefered a little help rather than the bully tactics used at my local jobcenter:eek:

Good luck everyone for the coming week (and sorry for the rant;))

    Hi Bertiebots,

Hope some good news comes to you soon about the job, sorry about all the forms you had to fill in, always seems to be a lot of hoops to jump through these days.

I don't have many problems with my job centre but hate going in there as well. I hate having to answer the same way all the time when people ask me how things are going with the job hunt, i'd just like to be able to say something different than having to put on false optimism all the time.

Never mind, another week tomorrow. Lets hope the posters on this thread get some of the good luck other people received over the last week.
  • Congratulations to those who have found jobs since I posted Friday :j

I filled in a Nursery nurse application form yesterday and posted that off. Waiting for another one to be sent to me from another nursery and that will take me up to 7 posts I'd have applied for.

Decided I will ring round the agencies tomorrow to register with them just in case nothing comes from these 7 applications as a back up.

Can I join this thread, being made redundant in May after 12 years in my job, found out last week. Have only found one job so far to apply for and that is for something completely different to what I do but will give it a try.
Congratulations to those who have just found jobs this week
  • I should be happy with this temp contract I have with the recruitment agency but do you know what? I'm not, I'm just not satisfied at all....especially with the agency itself. The role is OK but it's pretty mind numbing.

I going to keep trying in finding a full time perm job in the mean time. I'd feel much happier being employed by the company and not via an agencies... it's so restricting! :(
