I started my new job today and it was everything I hoped for! I lurked on this thread for quite a while before joining and WOW, what great support I got!
For those still looking, keep positive - the right job is out there for you! Keep posting on this thread and support each other - It really does help to know there are others in the same boat! It made me much stronger and got me out of the doldrums many a time!
For those that have had success - Congratulations! It just shows that the jobs are there when you have been patient and keep plodding on with those dreaded applications! I'm a firm believer in having a break though, so the weekend should be "me" time to prepare you for the week ahead!
Good luck to everyone!

Wow, so many new jobs posted today! Congrats!
Really trying hard to keep my head above water with it all today, but seeing that others are having success helps to keep my hopes up!0 -
I had a rejection by email from the company that interviewed me yesterday.
Im going to ask for feedback though I think its due to the second interview not going to well for me.
Its sooo frustrating that I can get interviews but dont get the job.....I have got to be doing something very wrong at interviews....but what???:(
I would suggest speaking to he JC+ and seeing if they can help, although I wouldnt worry too much, it is just sometimes small differences at the interview. Remember they have maybe 5 people per job, so narrowing it down is difficult for them too!
So even the smallest thing can be used as a differentiator
I do believe that there is the "perfect" job out there for people, and sooner or later you will match up. I got my new job through an agency who saw my application for another job and thought I would fit. In fact the co is just right, I am v artsy, but my job is not relatedm, but the new job is for an arts company, so in the perfect environment and people, doing myjob!0 -

The JC wont help as im not claiming JSA. I dont know of any support in my area for a job seeker who isnt claiming benefit.
There was three of us invited to second round interviews so I know I done well in the first round. I think the presentation given at the second interview didnt go to well for me (though last week I aced a presentation). I think all I can do is ask for feedback and try to improve where suggested. All previous feedback has been very posistive and said they chose someone with more experiance, please apply in the future blah blah.
Its hard not to get down about it though esp as I put alot of work into this one...
I'm not claiming JS either. And I get the same sort of feedback, which isn't very helpful. I'm never sure if they're just cushioning the blow or if they're being truthful and it is just down to more experience...
What I've done in the past is ask friends or family to ask if any of their line managers/bosses (someone I didn't know and in a position of authority who has experience of doing interviews) would give me a mock interview. Even though it wasn't in the same field that I work in, I got some useful feedback on general technique, how I come across, what they're looking for in terms of personality etc.0 -
Brilliant way to end the week wine_night. Congratulations to you. I bet you'll have a good weekend now.
I've lost count of the amount of successes we've had this week. Just hope the rest of us get some next week.
Thank you Stew68, I don't know if it helps but I had two rejections before I was finally offered this job- it just so happens that this was one of the jobs I really wanted! It does go to show that the right fit is out there, it just can take some time to find it.
I hope that all goes well in your search and I'll keep checking on the thread- fingers crossed for you and everyone else!0 -

I have never been offered a job at second interview; I have only ever ben offered single interview jobs. A couple of years ago I interviewed for a job but lost out at the second as the other candidate had skills that more closely matched the role. A few months later the job was re-advertised so I didn't really know what to make of that!
With another role I got through 2 interviews and then had a THIRD interview with the CEO of the company. It was the worst interview I ever had. I hadn't prepared as much as I should have and he used stress questioning. I didn't get offered the job but then again would I have wanted to work for someone like that, who is always trying to catch me out? I felt pretty rubbish afterwards though I have to admit!
I think quite often it really does come down to there being several good candidates and who can show the best understanding/experience of the industry is offered the role. I was successful in my interview last week, (one interview only) and although it was a different industry, I was able to draw on my experience of dealing with a varied client base to state a strong case. When the interviewer talked through the role I was actively thinking about how my experiences could support the job specification, and I would later refer to what the interviewer mentioned and bring my own experience into it. I think this helped my case.
I did have two interviews for jobs prior to this which I was rejected for, and with hindsight I don't think I showed the level of comprehension and engagement with the interviewer and the role that I did in my successful interview.
I admittedly find second interviews hard to prepare for, it feels like you put all your efforts into the first interview and it's difficult to know what to do with the second one!
I really hope that everything goes well for you but I know it is gutting to miss out to other good candidates who just have that slight edge in their experience!0 -

I have had five rejections (3 at second interview) and two after first stage in last 2 months alone!
You've got to keep knocking, keep asking, and just answer honestly and openly, don't tell them what you think they want to hear. You don't know what answer they want so best to be true to yourself.0 -
I agree, i've been looking for eight months since being made redundant and it is soul destroying. I can't think what it's been like to have been in this situation for as long as you have.
I hope something comes up trumps for you soon. (Maybe then you won't still be awake at this time of night worrying about it, like me!)
maybe i should have said but i do have a job which in itself is demoralising, soul destroying0
