Welcome RaspberryRed. Depressing posts are fine! We all need to vent sometimes - I've done my fair share on this thread. How do we keep our head up? I'm not entirely sure! I don't think there is any sure fire way. However, it's nice to come into a thread and know that there are people who understand the frustration, the demoralisation, the panic, the interview nerves, and dead time when you're waiting to hear back...and hopefully the elation when you do that that call saying 'we'll like to make you a job offer'!

I'm going to do one more CV application today and then taking a break in the job hunting for the rest of the weekend (shame I can't just turn off the slight sense of panic that doesn't seem to go away!)
I'm not sure why, but this week has just felt really draining even thought I'm not doing that much different - job search, application form filling, getting / chasing responses...I just hope I get over this funk and next week will feel better.0 -
Well I got call today, and they made me an offer! Do I am back to work next week all being well, excited to get there at last.
For all those struggling, keep going I think I have applied with cv for 200+ jobs, and i am a skilled professional, so I think it us a numbers game. Remember that in many cases if employers get over 100 cvs they might only look through the top 50 initially. With so many applicants they can't possibly look through 300 cvs. Send off as many as you can is the best advice I can give.0 -
Miss Motivation - well done!! Its lovely to hear of someone being successful. That goes to the other people who have found work recently too.Growing old disgracefully!0

Well done Missmotivation and Ohdamnit, great to hear you've both got jobs.
I'm going to call all the agencies near me next week to go in and register as clearly registering online is a waste of time as I never hear backSaved: £1566.53/ £20000 -
Congrats to MissMotivation and Ohdamnit :T and to anyone else with good news today.
Not a particularly productive day here, there doesn't seem to be anything for me to apply to today and I'm feeling miserable after another week has gone by with no progress and now I have two days waiting impatiently for Monday to tick around. I just want to hibernate right now.

I know the feeling fruitloops, weekends seem to drag when you know there won't be any new jobs advertised. My boyfriend texts me every Friday saying thank god it's the weekend but to me it's just like every other day now, every day is a weekend with nothing to do.Saved: £1566.53/ £20000

Exactly, it's so frustrating. The week goes so quickly too and then I'm twiddling my thumbs for two days because there are no job post updates and people I'm waiting to hear back from are off until Monday, so not a chance or any emails or phonecalls that I'm hoping for... gah!!! :wall:
I guess we just have to make the weekend as productive as we possibly can and keep our chins up.

Yay, two more successes, well done MissMotivation and Ohdamnit. I am so pleased for you both. It's always good to hear good news.
I agree, it is difficult to look forward to a weekend, with no job hunting on the websites it does make the days seem so much longer. Earlier on I had to stop and think "hang on, what day is it?" Just for a moment I thought it was Saturday. Mind you, it might just be me completely losing it.....:rotfl:0 -
It's easy to forget what day it is Stew68.... and I used to laugh at my Mom doing that when it was the summer holidays :rotfl:
Has anyone else found job searching harder since jobcentre.com no longer exists and it's done through direct.gov? Out of interest I just typed in nursery nurse and put in up to 30 miles from my postcode (usually I just type in my postcode and select all jobs) and suddenly 3 jobs have appeared from over a week ago that have never come up before!!! Emailed them so hopefully I hear something but HOW ANNOYING! I much preferred the old site.Saved: £1566.53/ £20000 -

Don't worry, I am terrible for keeping track of the days too, I'm forever double checking the daythey just blur into one big day with naps sometimes
unless I'm laying awake worrying about things, that is.
