  • I should be happy with this temp contract I have with the recruitment agency but do you know what? I'm not, I'm just not satisfied at all....especially with the agency itself. The role is OK but it's pretty mind numbing.

I going to keep trying in finding a full time perm job in the mean time. I'd feel much happier being employed by the company and not via an agencies... it's so restricting! :(

Yeah agency work is never great :( I've been very reluctant to register with any of them but feel i know longer have a choice. Even with 7 applications in for jobs I still can't wait just in case I don't get interviews, and some of them still haven't passed the closing date so I'm going to register with agencies, if I can get something it's at least bringing money in, then I'll keep looking for jobs I actually want :)

It's so limiting, especially when it comes to holidays, days off, sickness. Also, financially, I approached the bank about reviewing my loan but I can't proceed with anything until I'm in full time permenant employment (and obviously earning a certain amount to meet the criteria), goodness knows when that will be :( understandably, banks won't process a loan based on temp contract income.

Agencies are OK, they fill in the gaps which is better than nothing of course. They're hard work, you have to keep calling and emailing them so they don't forget you *sigh*

It's a vicious circle really isn't it :( just not enough permanent full time employment. Even most of the nursery jobs I've applied for are temp positions until the summer.

I'm learning that very quickly! Registered to all the local ones online and only heard from one asking for my CV which I haven't heard from since so thinking it's best to call them.

    Hi Bertiebots,

Hope some good news comes to you soon about the job, sorry about all the forms you had to fill in, always seems to be a lot of hoops to jump through these days.

I don't have many problems with my job centre but hate going in there as well. I hate having to answer the same way all the time when people ask me how things are going with the job hunt, i'd just like to be able to say something different than having to put on false optimism all the time.

Never mind, another week tomorrow. Lets hope the posters on this thread get some of the good luck other people received over the last week.

Would you believe that I haven't even been given a diary/job search log (i dont even know the correct term lol!) in all the time I have been signing on ( last July). For the first month I did one myself but they didnt bother looking at it so I just stopped recording my searches etc . Not once have they actually done a jobsearch with me or offer any advice. I have of course been looking twice daily since signing on but they just presume that you arent doing anything! And so ,for the people who arent and dont care , obviously its an easy ride...but we are not all like that are we:( Its like they have just given up on everyone and the area I live in has high unemployement. But it has made me stronger too -so its not all negative;) I know I can cope with far more than I thought on my own and will get there eventually ...even if it takes a while:D

I am sure we will all get there ....even if the journey isn't much fun:).

Yea, it isn't easy to stay positive after so long, i've been looking since the start of June but been officially unemployed since September. We've got really high unemployment here as well but I can't fault the job centre staff, they've always been supportive to me with good advice. It can't be easy for them having to deal with some of the people I see in there.

Keep the faith, it's got to be our turn soon.
  • I just wanted to wish everyone the best of luck for the week ahead! keep on pushing! :D
  • I've been lurking on this thread for a while now. I'm currently employed but on a temporary contract which will not be renewed when it runs out next month. I have been searching for a new job since I found out that I would be losing my job but I'm getting quite disheartened now. I'm searching the job websites every day but I still haven't had any luck. Just keeping my fingers crossed that something comes up and quick as I really don't want to be out of work!

    Good morning all.

    I need to vent...again.

I am so so so sooo down at the moment. Really struggling to function. This weekend I have just realised how crap I feel at the moment. I have no money to go out, and I am just existing. The only time I leave the house is for job interviews or the job centre.

I just feel like, what more can I do? I'm applying for a min of 10 jobs a week, and have been for a long time.

I've got the interview for the job I really want on Friday, but it's too far away. I need a job now, today, I just can't face another week of this.

    Morning lexilex,

I feel for you, I really do. I hardly go out these days either apart from the gym which i'm going to have to consider cancelling soon if I can't find a job. I've worked out that if I can't find a job in the next six weeks i'm going to have to get rid of the car which will really screw me over for job hunting, interviews etc.

It is so hard out there but I take encouragement from the posters on here who had good news last week, I just keep thinking it must be my turn soon. I hope it is for you too.

Chin up and feel free to rant on here all you want, it can make you feel better.
  • Got an important interview this afternoon but after signing on this morning feeling really down :(

I have all the skills, I just need to be very positive and filled with good energy to impress further. Seems easier said then done.
