I've decided I am not going back to the job centre. I've managed to save the majority of my wages (although not a huge amount as it was only NMW) and get my debts (only owed to family) paid off so will live off what I have got.
I am really considering paying one of the CV places to look through my CV. I have had pretty good feedback from it but I just feel something must be stopping my getting the jobs I am applying for.
Why not go back to the Job Centre? If you have paid into the National Insurance pot then you are entitled to the benefits resulting from your contributions. It may not be the nicest of things to do but if you have the right attitude then you can get through it ok. Who knows, they might even have a job just in when you attend the interview. Don't cut off any avenues of chance
As for getting a CV company to go over your resume I have mixed feelings about them. They may be able to help or over embellish the CV to make it seem inappropriate for the jobs you are going for. Why not ask the management at the place you are at now to give you some feedback? It won't cost anything and will be very relevant as they will know you. You can go to a CV company any time but you only have until Friday to get a freebee~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Soo did anyone have any advice for me? Do I go to a job interview in the part of town that no sane person would set foot into and potentially WORK there?0

It rather depends upon the work hours, is it near a relaible bus route, can you get a lift to/from the work place?
Personal safety must come first but don't turn down an interview just because of the location is you can mitigate the safety concerns.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I'd go to the interview, as least you're keeping all the options open. Then ask about the location of the actual job when you're there and go from there. If nothing else it's good interview practice.OU Student! - ED209, SDK125, DSE212, SK124, DSE141, SD226, DXR222, DD303, DD307 = BSc Psychology0 -

Remember that while areas get bad names it's not always so much the area as it's reputation - there's areas of Glasgow which you'd never dream of walking in but chances are if you find yourself there you'll get out with no problems whatsoever! So long as you're sensible then it's perfectly safe, just always have a "plan B" for if it does go wrong - most of the time you'll not hear about the good which happens in a "bad" area.
I've also scored an interview with Sainsbury's too, fingers crossed since that's a permanent position in the petrol station of the new store in town.Retired member - fed up with the general tone of the place.0 -

Hi,
I've had this before after I attended an interview, it turned out that the job had been offered to somebody else but they held back informing me in case the other person turned it down as I was "their second choice" Hope it isn't that for you and they are just taking their time to inform you of your success.

Heard back today about the interview. Got second interview for Fri 10.30 am. It will include a couple of excel tests and a written test. Bit scared that my brain will go to mush and I won't remember what I blatantly know!!I am going to do some practising as preparation
So that's 2 interviews, one Thurs and one Fri. Fingers crossed that one of these are successful0 -
I will be joining you all again on Friday. Found out my temporary job is coming to an end this week. I've decided I am not going back to the job centre. I would try and get the CV reviewed for free if possible. My cv does not follow the format rules but still landed me job interviews so I don't think employers are that picky concerning format.0 -
