Yay!! Well done Disehnchanted! I hope you get it! Best of luck to you!!
I got the job as a barmaid or barperson if you're PC......................But, it's only 10 hours a week, oh dear!! Still, at this moment in time it is a job!!0 -
@ Dienchanted-Good Luck, fingers crossed!.
@ montymud- from my experience in that line of work extra hours nearly always come up especially in the run up to xmas with parties.
I've had a mixed week. Dream job that I had seen advert after closing date called to say it had been taken so do not apply:(.
Another job that I thought I was in with a good chance with experience & qualifications have not yet got back to me (over a week now!) but I know there's been lots of applicants.:(
Yesterday I picked up two applications for high street shops xmas posts from the retail park close to home & school(very handy) so I'm going to fill them in today & get them handed in tomorrow (after friend laughed at me & told me to "get over it "when I said it will feel funny serving mums from school/ everyone I know as I've lived in this town my whole life & always worked outside it, I realised I was been silly, everyone has to work!!).
I would have loved to wait for Waterstones xmas posts but believe its end of Oct so too long to wait plus I can get more hours in if I work close to ds school because I don't have to commute.
So next week may be better hopefully!.:)
Good Luck all.0 -

I only applied yesterday, and one of the questions asked about 3 product lines I had good knowledge of (I may have had to lie here and profess my expertise in computer software, accessories and music products) time to get revising I think!! I have a slight feeling they are only interviewing me because I'm female, and this is definitely a more 'male' environment (at least if their sheffield branch is anything to go by!).

well I still havent had any response to the job that I was verbally given!! Theres something in the back of my head that just doesnt add up- and then I think why would a company make up an elaborate lie about the director being taken into hospital if it wasnt true- would people do this?! I just dont know?
Ive been applying for other jobs, but so far all ive had is rejections- the one job i applied for down the road from me would have been perfect but I havent even heard anything from them and given the closing date was over 2 weeks ago i doubt im getting an interview- its the same old though- I know I could do the job but hey ho!
The other thing is I had tried to sort out childcare (for the job I thought I had) and the place I was sending my daughter is starting to get full, the lady has got my name down but she herself said that if I leave it any longer the place will be gone and she will have to say no- which means that even if I do get a job I wont have childcare so would have to turn it down anyways- just seems like a viscious circle!
I have sent an e-mail to the director's PA- who was the lady that called and told me she had been taken ill, just to see if there was any update- and hoping that she was ok etc- so I guess I just wait now and see what happens but im not holding my breath!
Sorry to wafflle xxNow im debt free i want to be fat free too!0 -

If you still don't have an official start date then I wouldn't close your claim as something may happen in the meantime and the job could be withdrawn  BUT I would definitely contact the JC and tell them what's happening.
just called the JC and she said to let them know next time i sign on, just noticed in the green booklet you get that at the back of it it says to fill in the info if strting a full time job of 16 hours or more a week so the JC obviously class 16 hours as full time rather than part time.0 -

I would think that being female in a male environment could be an advantage. Seem to remember the fairy jobmother program where a woman was offered a job at a games shop because she could speak at the right level to a grandmother who did not understand technology but wanted to buy for her grandchild. The more technophile (usually male) person would probably have problems communicating to the technophobe (usually elder female)0
