Congrats hello2007 & condolances scottishgirl87, something else will come along hun - I think I have also been rejected. I applied for a job last week and I called yesterday and the MD wouldn't speak to me he was 'in a meeting' yeah alright, I can take a hint lol!!

On the plus side I have an interview tonight so fingers crossed though it really isn't very many hours but will certainly tide me over for now.

Good luck with your interview! I'm not even getting that far :( I can't help but think, sometimes they're going against me because of my age/sex, I mean I'm a 23 (nearly 24) year old female, so I can't help but think sometimes they'll think "oh she'll leave to have kids soon enough". Maybe I'm just being paranoid. I have nothing in the pipeline and to be honest, just feeling completely down and fed up! All I want is a proper job so I can afford to move out of my parents and move on with my life!

I am sure that they do not believe that you are going to leave to have kids at 23 if you were 33 they might think that. There will be a job for you soon so just keeping trying.

    Good luck

Yesss finally got a flipping job, at last. Its not ideal as i wasnt expecting to go back to a former employer albeit another store but needs must, its also less hours i was told at interview but that leaves room for any OT. Cant believe ive lasted 5 months, was getting a bit disillusioned with it all. It doesnt start till later on in the month so i need to carry on looking as per usual for jsa, it also means i could squeeze in a holiday too.

Keep at it everyone you shall find sometihng,

Congrats DCFC79, they do tend to come out of nowhere to surprise you i guess, enjoy the holiday if you chose to go on one.

I heard back today that i wasn't successful, although she said i sounded REALLY good but better suited more to the buying department in the shop rather than the sales side of things which i can understand, she's said they'll keep me in mind if anything opens up which is promising, first time i've ever had a negative response with such a positive message attached when it comes to a job - a pleasant change from the bog standard "sorry, but you haven't got the job" notes/calls.
Retired member - fed up with the general tone of the place.
  • Well done DCFC79, take the holiday and be refreshed for the new start.

well the holiday idea would be a short 1 as ive already got something planned for 18/09 so if i do it will only be about 4 or 5 days, i was expecting the reply this week but was expecting teh reply to be by email and not a phone call.

    thanks,

    Congratulations on the job :D

I finished my IT course yesterday and now my cheapy holiday is sorted for the 12th, can't wait to get away!

I got a phone call about a job today from an agency for 6 weeks work but it was for the company I used to work for in a department I was meant to work in but asked to move departments which the manager got the hump about! Long story but it was my first job and this job involved having angry people trying to cancel accounts etc and I was overwhelmed by it and was moved to a line where you got nice old ladies on the phone. I can't work the hours she was offering but she said some day shifts might be available in a few weeks and she will call me so fingers crossed :D

I also bought the most gorgeous top today off a PDSA £1 bargain rail. Today has been a good day!
  • Well I start volunteering with the CAB on Monday. Went along today and had a nice chat with the manager. She described what I would be doing and I also do advisor training on a Wednesday.

So am really looking forward to it. Can't wait to get started.:j
  • I've had a bit of positive news. I managed to get hold of someone at the JC about going on a back to work scheme for people who have been out of work long term due to an illness. She said they have loads of schemes and has booked me in for an appointment next Tues to discuss everything. I'm more than happy to start right from the bottom and do some training for free if it means i can get a job out of it, so hopefully i can get booked into something soon. So its not like ive got a job offer or anything but i think its a really big step in the right direction because i am convinced i am pretty much unemployable right now due to so much competition for jobs and me being out of work for so long.
Knock me down I'll get right back up again, I'll come back stronger than a powered up Pac-Man
