I went to the JC this morning, the 'school boy banter silliness' from the 'security' guards' is wearing a bit thin.

I've applied to a number of really great sounding contracts, hope to get something soon. Just wondering if anyone else is seeking PA/secretarial/Admin work in London? hows your search going... hoping September will bring in more roles...

Wishing all a wonderful bank holiday, the last of the public holidays until the big C - Christmas:eek: good grief this years gone super fast...
    student loan : £7083  2. Halifax : £661; Capital One :£297, BarclaysCard :£370 ; Barclays Bank CDL : last payment due 2013 ; AIM 1 : £PAY OFF CREDIT CARDS @ £70PW for the first 3 months of new job

    Saving aim : £12000 per year Nov 2011 - Nov 2012 (£250 pw)

I'm not in London but this sector appears to have been hit really hard lately. Even the guy in the JC confirmed this. Since April I've only managed to find work for about 11 weeks. Been doing some part-time reception this week but nothing for next week. I'm hoping and praying that once the holiday are over companies will start or recruiting or a load of PAs go off on maternity so at least I can cover their roles for 9 months or so! Good luck

So frustrated by my interview, it's something i know i can do standing on my head (Games retail), i know how to deal with stuff expected (cashing up etc) but i don't feel i came across very confidently. Worst part is that i used to be the kind of confident person that was borderline a proper arrogant little toad who for an interview like this would have talked his way into the job at twice the payrate, if i'd got my knowledge across confidently i'd get the job easilly but for now i'm just waiting to find out - there's glimmers of hope (discussed pay, asked if it was cool to contact my refs, how flexible i am re working hours & location), hopefully if they take up my references they'll come through.

Gah so annoying when i know i could have done so much better - time to convince myself i'm every bit as good if not better than i was at the time i got my last job!

    Evening all,

Finally got feedback from the interview I had last week, I didn't get the job but I came across very well, very confident, they knew I would be able to do the job with no problem. It came down to three people but they went with somebody who they thought would fit into the team better.

How many times have I come down to the last two or three but just missed out, what a good way to start the bank holiday weekend. What makes it worse it that they have started laying off people in work today and dropped the shift allowances so now the really low wages no longer covers the monthly bills.

Roll on September, have a good weekend all, try not to get too stressed out about your situations, not easy I know.

Oooh, must be a bank holiday weekend in South Wales, it's tipping it down........

You did what you could so that is good. Just shame you didn't get it. I hope you find something soon!

I havent heard back from my interview yet. I have been trying to think of a way to make sure I get the job. One of the main things you have to do is find out the name of a person that is holding a specific position SO.......

Who here works for a big blue chip company and fancies infiltrating it and aquiring the employee list? LOL!!!
  • Omg, was really late last night and was quite tired when sending off a few emails for jobs with cover letters attached.. anyway I have this one blank letter for admin jobs I tweak slightly, and I was changing the date from 23rd of Aug to 25th, but forgot to change the rd to th so it read the 25rd of August!! :O Really hoping they don't notice :(

Fingers crossed they don't notice it. I have done things like that myself too - you're not alone!

Well, I sent one the other night also late after working on it most of the arvo with my son breaking me off a lot (school hols).
Once I'd sent it I realised it had gone from my hubbys e-mail folder (even though I put my e-mail address on covering letter) & on the companies response page I'd set it out perfect in letter format (address's in corners) only when I looked back in sent items the address's had all mumbled & merged together so it must be something to do with the page condensing when sent.
I was that tired I had a minute of dread & disapointment in myself then laughed & thought
"Oh well what will be will be, it's gone now, maybe its a sign" then I opened a bottle of wine!:)

I've done silly things like that too.

Becuase the whole situation is so stressful, every little things becomes something big to worry about!

hopefully they won't even notice :)

Didn't here about that job... really can't understand why I wouldn't get an interview for this job!!

I'm not at my flat this weekend, spending time at parents - so keep hoping there will be a letter waiting for me when I get back. My mum thinks that I am more likely to hear next week, but they usually get interviews through quickly, so not feeling very confident at all.

Feel like shouting from the rooftops - please someone give me a chance!

Me too!! It's so irritating seeing a job you know you can do with your eyes closed but you don't get half a chance to do it!!
