    thanks, email sent

Good luck. Happy to help with any phrasing or proof reading or covering letter writing etc as I'm one of those annoying people who can spot tiny tiny errors at 100 paces :o and I used to re-format CVs in a couple of previous jobs.

Just went into the Job Centre Website and I saw office assistant advertised. So I have just literally sent an email off to them.

It's an apprenticeship but didn't say anything about age. It usually says this vacancy is open 16 - 19 year olds which I didn't see.

It's also in my town so I could probably walk there too.

Also I walked past the CAB today and there's a notice on the door saying they urgently need volunteers due to a shortage.
  • I focus on the transferable skills of the degree. I have probably spent about £2000 learning to drive so far, £700 on driving tests alone lol. I wasn't confident at first and now think about how much money I could have saved not learning to drive in a certain town that even well established drivers hate driving in.

I am such a pilchard, I forgot to go to job centre today but they are letting me come back at 4.00pm to sign on!

volunteering at CAB is the best (unless like me you are completely bogged under in work and ripping your hair out lol)

    .

Could be wrong but I believe apprenticeships are only open to those 16-24 without further education.

Remember as well it would only pay £100 a week.

This hasn't been a good week at all - seems like I am going backwards at a rate of knots as I haven't even had any interest for a couple of weeks now. And with it being a long weekend you know it is 3 days before nothing happens again.

Never thought it would be me writing this...... but......... I finally have a job offer after five months unemployment! I can't quite believe it myself, but I guess it shows that with perseverance (and a little but of luck!) there is light at the end of the tunnel! :)

I should also mention that the support on this thread has been amazing - so thank you all for your advice.

  • Congratulations Mashimaro!

I was supposed to go and find out about my job today, however got a phone call before lunch to cancel and to rearrange for Tuesday so did that and then another phone call to cancel Tuesday as the director has been taken ill and is in hospital. At the end of the conversation (I was supposed to start on 6th September) the lady on the phone said to me that they would be in touch when everything was sorted out, but in the mean time if I got another job then it would be their loss- what does anyone make of that? I'm not sure what to think, the lady offered me the job on the phone a few days ago and this was just a meeting to discuss what exactly I would be doing... I just have a niggling thought that perhaps she has had a change of heart and doesnt want me afterall?- Or is this just me being negative! Oh well in the mean time i guess i may just carry on applying!
Now im debt free i want to be fat free too!
  • I had a phone call where the woman pretty much sounded like she was offering me the job but she wasn't./ I never take it as anything until I have job contract in front of me to sign. :)

Well just got an email back and it says they cannot put me forward because it is only open to people 16-19 years old and have no history of previously funded work based programmes.

It also says due to legislation they cannot put this in Job Adverts???

I'm sure I have seen adverts saying 16-19 years old.

    Ahh onwards and upwards then.
  • Thats the way I think I will play it Endless Struggle- Ill wait and see what happens (if anything?!)
