lol, I'm 30 and cannot drive. I have had 10 or so lessons in a manual but I am going to have to switch to automatic!
lol, you sound similar to me - almost 30 and tried to learn to drive a manual.
If I do a get job, and therefore can aford to do so - I will also be switching to an automatic, so I can finally learn to drive!0 -

Yes I would address to Ms surname.*If you have nothing nice to say... say nothing*"Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that." Martin Luther King Jr0 -
Please can I too join the "Non driving feel like I have a useless Degree club!".:rotfl:
I so understand where you are coming from montymud each time I moan I wish I'd picked a more physical degree my hubby tells me that it's not too late to re-train but I did 6yrs of Higher Education (college/uni) after school & just don't think I could face it again especially now I have a family but I'm also aware that I can't leave it too late (in my 30's) if I do fancy going down that route. I took 5 years out to bring my son up to school age & now he's at school I feel like "Right, what am I going to do now" & a bit lost really. Another example is my hubby left school early at 14yrs old nearly 15 (didn't sit his GCSE'S) did a basic college course & apprentiship in the building trade (joinery) & has never been out of work since (touch wood! no pun intended, lol!)& has always earnt much more than me even when I was working full time.
I am secretly jealous of people like him who have a trade/skill they are naturally very good at & can make good money from, very lucky people! it must be so satisfying.
Me too - I am also jealous of people who have trade/skill where money can be made!
I really enojoyed my time at uni and loved studying for my History degree, but even when I was doing it I knew that as a career - it probabaly wasn't an option! And being young, I wasn't too worried.
Now with the propspects of unemployment looming ever closer by the day, I have mixed feelings. I still cherish the good memories, but wish I had something concrete to help me now...
...apart from 7 years working experience, surely this must count for something?
Still waiting to hear back whether got an interview for that job. I'm terrrible at waiting... it's one of those, they only contact you if you are sucessful. I am really interested in this role and know that I could do it really well, so the waiting is even worse.0 -

Fingers crossed for you! I have also put in a few applications & I'm waiting on a couple of calls too as the job descriptions I'm looking at where so vague I have called for extra info as I need to be sure the job will fit in with family/ sons school etc it really gets my goat actually that sometimes they can be so vague you have to call to find out if they are even part time or full time! (err, it is quite important!) Lol!0 -

I'm also in the same boat. I really wish I'd went straight from school to a job or apprenticeship type scheme and worked my way up, instead of going to uni. My friend is a Nursery Nurse, she went straight from school into the job, where they trained her and she got the qualifications while working there at the same time, she's now part of their management team. Now I don't want to be a Nursery Nurse but I wish I'd done gone down a similar route.
Bit fed up today, to be honest. Was hoping I'd hear back by now from the job I followed up on on Monday or Tuesday who said they were planning to get back to people in the next few days. Still absolutely nothing from anyone0 -

I know the vagueness is irritating, especially with the job role and personal specification. They miss out key qualifications/skills that they feel are a necessity - surely this must waste their own time, as they must get lots of applications that are not what they are looking for!0 -
What gets me is when you read down a list of job duties and personal skills required and you get more and more excited until it gets to the end and says "such and such experience/knowledge/qualification ESSENTIAL" - why don't they put this at the top for goodness sake then you wouldn't waste time reading the whole damn advert and getting your hopes up if you haven't got what they require. Grrrrr.
Job centre interview today was erm.... not productive re time, petrol costs (15 mile round trip) and car park charge as they didn't seem to have all my details complete on the computer and pretty much just asked me stuff I told them at the original interview which I saw someone else type in. Also asked about the degree I'm studying (did year one full time, continuing part time) - not related to the admin jobs I'm looking for and which I have 20 yrs experience in - and what I wanted to do at the end of it, which I told her, then she said well you just need any job now so it doesn't really matter yet you can't be too choosy and expect a job in that field straight away. I know that!! That's why there are two pages of plain old admin jobs I've applied for on my job search list. I was just answering the question
Anyway...... trying to:D this afternoon.
