Hi, More of a lurker to the site - I had an interview this afternoon which went well although I won't hear until end of the week.I am so chuffed with making the progress however.

I got the interview by applying directly to the company - it seems the company recognised my skills and experience whereas I have found recruiters tend to just apply a blanket approach to a CV, no matter how much I tailored my CV to highlight similar roles. I had actually applied for the job via a recruiter who just ignored me (despite chasing) and I tried to figure who the company was and found a similar job on their company site.

I got a interview pretty quickly from the company directly - just wanted to share the approach. I also have another potential interview, albeit via a recruiter so I'm feeling finally there is some progress after a very long drought. No actual job yet so mustn't get too excited!

Well what a bleeding waste of time.

Another one listed today when the vacancy was already filled.

Sorry to hear that :( This really p*sses me off  I've applied for lots of jobs where they come back and say sorry it's already filled. Some agencies can be bad, I have a suspicion that some vacancies could be posted so you send in your CV and then you are told it's gone, but would you like to register on our books? I applied for a job a couple of weeks ago, got an email the next day saying can I ring to "discuss my requirements" Well my requirements are I want to apply for that specific job!! I told them that in a nice way and asked if it was still available and they came back with "no, it's been filled".

The next one you apply for might be the one though!! :o Good luck.

Well, was on my way to the job centre today- rang yesterday as i had finally gotten round to claiming benefits-So on the way there I had a phone call from a job I had a 2nd interview for offering me a position to start on 6th September.(I didnt believe them when they said they would be in touch if something else came up!) I literally snapped her hand off when she asked if I would like the position!! I probably sounded desparate- especially when she asked if I wanted any time to think about it and I politely declined!! :) I know I havent been out of work long but the whole looking for a job was alien to me as I have always worked (Well apart from taking 2 years when DD was a baby- but then I did Avon anyways) I am sooooo happy right now I could scream from the rooftops!!

Sending good luck to everybody in there quest to find a job xxxxxxxx

Congratulations to you, let's hope that we can all take this good news and run with it. You never know it might be the start of a bit of a run for us all.

August is nearly over so let's hope that September means more jobs available.

I know what you mean exactly. When I rang the recruiter today they where really shady asking me" Where I thought the job was?" then asked me loads of questions (probably to get me on books) & said the person dealing with the job would call back so I went to the suspected Comapanys website direct & there it was & I'm going to apply on there site!.

Now im debt free i want to be fat free too!
  • A miracle has occurred - no I haven't got a job, that would be more than a miracle! There are three jobs that I am suitable for advertised in the local paper today and the jobs are back in a supplement in the middle and not stuck at the back (just like in the good old days) and it was eight pages long! This is quite incredible as I don't usually find anything in the paper and its been really quiet generally over the past few weeks!
  • Congratulations hannahsmummy1 !:j
If everything happens for a reason - I wish someone would hurry up and tell me the reason !:)
