Hi Furny
If this is your perfect job and you have the degree and experience behind you then definitely go along for an interview!! You must have worked hard in the past to get the qualification and necessary experience so don't be afraid of using it
I think from what you are saying you don't want to mess the employer around, which shows consideration, but I think first and foremost the issue is whether you like/want the job and whether the employer likes/wants you. If the answer is 'yes' for both, then you can start to sort out the other issues then.
If the employer really wants you I would think they would be as flexible as possible to accommodate your needs. However I would say that the reverse also applies and you may have to think long and hard about what compromises you would be prepared to make for your perfect job (eg childcare, even if it is term-time only).
So I would say go for it, and if it is right for you and your family then you will find a way for all the pieces to fit together. Good luck!!

But
my voluntary work is my ultimate dream job and a search for funding has been bought up but seems to be a dead end. The dreaded impact of my leaving has also been discussed. It really gets me down as in my last job, although only temp work, there was no respect, appreciation or anything and I get a lot of it there and I mean a lot of it! I get praised everyday from other volunteers, clients, supervisors or the manager. It has done wonders for my confidence, my last job battered it down to like 0% and it has raised to about 80%. I wasn't even confident enough to speak to or phone clients when I first started and now I do it all the time and it doesn't even phase me. I also make a lot of decisions and am asked for help by other volunteers. I am like a new person! And I know that I am not going to get as much job satisfaction for about 95% of the jobs I apply forWhen my job disappeared I mourned the excellent flexible hours, holidays, location, friends and pay. I won't get the same elsewhere. I have had time now to get over my sadness and accept that the job has gone.
You have achieved a lot from your voluntary job. Allow yourself time to mourn then try and accept that you do need the money. At least when you have had a bad day, you can console yourself on what a wonderful job you can do in the right environment and also how much money you are being paid. Good luck
I totally agree with morizot very wise words :A
Always keep in your mind the good you have done in this job. It won't be the only one! You say you are a new person so hold that thought!!
As for the bad experience you had, I've had some pretty sh*tty jobs myself and come across some miserable bitter people who made my life very difficult. But hey, they are probably still miserable and bitter and I have moved on and I'm happy. Poor, but happy
There will be a job out there for you where they will treat you well. Its what you deserve so keep smiling and there will be a lovely employer who will be glad to snap you up and lucky to have you working for them. I hope it works out for you!!*If you have nothing nice to say... say nothing*"Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that." Well, was on my way to the job centre today- rang yesterday as i had finally gotten round to claiming benefits-So on the way there I had a phone call from a job I had a 2nd interview for offering me a position to start on 6th September.(I didnt believe them when they said they would be in touch if something else came up!) I literally snapped her hand off when she asked if I would like the position!! I probably sounded desparate- especially when she asked if I wanted any time to think about it and I politely declined!!
I know I havent been out of work long but the whole looking for a job was alien to me as I have always worked (Well apart from taking 2 years when DD was a baby- but then I did Avon anyways) I am sooooo happy right now I could scream from the rooftops!!
Sending good luck to everybody in there quest to find a job xxxxxxxxNow im debt free i want to be fat free too!0 -
4th CV sent off this week (a new record in this town - if i was on JSA i'd have been sanctioned by now given the lack of suitable jobs!) and zero replies - still, positives, there's been 4 oppertunities for me this week and i've applied for all 4.
Yeah it's starting to not work on me too!Retired member - fed up with the general tone of the place.0 -

Thanks for your post hun it's given me the confidence to go for it & apply:A.
I wouldn't say it's my dream job but it's as near as I'll get for now & is in my related field which will make me feel like I'm using my qualifications & experience more than anything else I've looked at plus it's handy to home.
You are right I don't like messing people around & like to be open about things so sometimes it can be to my downfall (like if I didn't apply for this job!)
I'll keep you updated!:) Thanks again BB
