Not sure if this has been posted as it's been a while since I've been posting reguarly in this topic but I've just come across this blog
http://skillsconnect.eu/blog/?p=24
It talks about the best sites offering free CV reviews. I've just sent mine to The CV Store and The CV Centre. Seems very straight forward and they promise a response within 24 hours.0 -

However they're all advertised internally. That's what I don't get. Why advertise on the website if you are only accepting people who work within the organisation??? I look everyday for administration jobs. But they are far and few between. I could understand if I was looking for an unusual job but it's just administration I want to do.:(
I'm in the same position. I'm a fully trained administrator but can't find anything. I never went to university but have 20 years experience - I started as an Office Junior and worked my way up but am now applying for jobs as an office junior again. I've been feeling really down for two weeks now and just can't snap out of it.0 -

Thank you. I'm going to send mine off this evening (can't do it now as I'm cooking and surfing at the same time - obviously I am good at multi-tasking!)0 -
I've applied to volunteer with the CAB as well in an Admin/Reception role. Would look good on my CV as well as refreshing my skills.0

I think I''ve just found a job I can apply for. I asked my Mum and Dad what they thought and they said I should go for it and try it.
What's the worst that can happen? I get interview experience if they invite me. It's only temporary but it is a start. Nothing ventured nothing gained.0 -

Go for it. No harm in applying for anything. What is the worst they can say - no. The best - You got the job! As you say, any interview experience is a bonus0 -
Just a quick query. On the website it tells you to email your CV/Covering letter. Now this opens up in Outlook which I have never used on this computer. Therefore I can't send it.
Do you think I can send it through my own email address or does it have to be through that link?
Thank you.0 -
I also sympathise. I graduated in 2001 & was lucky to get in to a well paid related job but I left in 2005 to have my son & take time out to raise him to school age (Luckily through hubbys wage we could manage) now I'm looking for work again (son at school) I've realised I can't get back in to what my degree is in & it wouldn't fit with the family also & I'm applying for all kinds of jobs some I don't fancy.
It can get quite demoralising like others have said & I've often thought "Why did i bother going to Uni?" & that I've got a mickey mouse degree but don't feel I could go through all the work to retrain again now with a family/house to look after & 6 years after school was enough for me! luckily I lived at home (parents) whilst at Uni & didn't get in to any debt.
But then I tell myself that my degree got me my first good job but it can often be a help or a hindrance when applying for others.
I have an interview tues for a Care job (at night 12 hour shifts for up to 36 hours a week)never done care work before but got to give it a shot if successful as it fits in with life right now & I may like it & there is a chance for NVQ'S which can only be more strings to my bow!.
P.s As a poster said earlier on my generation was also one that you where made to feel your life would amount to nothing if you did not go to Uni! how this Country has changed now as graduates I feel are often the ones more struggeling.0 -

Hi,
Just do it through your own email address. I do this all the time as I don't use Outlook either. You should be able to copy and paste the email address into your own email system.
Good luck with your application.0 -

Same here, they won't be able to tell any different. Just copy the email address from Outlook and post it into whatever program you use yourself.0
