During this time I was getting Incapacity Benefit, Income Support (a whole 6p) and Council Tax Benefit. I got a terrifying letter from the Benefits Agency asking me to go in as they needed to speak to me. It transpired that the Inland Revenue had got records of 4 people living at my address as well as me who were all apparently working (not true as i lived on my own) and the BA were basically accusing me of committing benefit fraud. Luckily I had had a visit from the Council who were checking that I had told the truth on my application form for Council Tax benefit and had come to look at my house (a little terraced house). They were able to tell the Benefits Agency that they were positive that it was only me living at the property and eventually they backed down after a lot of letters.
it is quite worrying, ive worded a letter to hmrc and included copies of the 3 tax coding notices i received and a copy of my p45 with my dob and address to prove who I am, thining about sending a copy of my driving licence as further proof of my address.
The 2 departments didnt obvioulsy communicate with 1 another, the other guy had a different dob to me and lives in newbury plus i sign in my town where i live so that should have told them we have 2 different people here. Lol the guy asked me so you dont live in newbury then do you ? i felt like saying yes i do but i decided to sign on in this random town.0 -

I've been asked to forward my C.V. to them this morning so it's a case of waiting really to see if they have anything. I have mentioned before that I have part-time work, but 14 hours a week in a very expensive house really does get you down. I just about had enough this month to buy some fruit...:(
constantly be on at the agencies asking if theres anything suitable for you,0 -
Looks like I am finally getting an end date of mid September from my current employer. I hope they get the redundancy calculation correct, otherwise there will be arguments, screams and tantrums. Under forced redundancy I would have left in January, this way I take all the money now, saves them NI payments and makes me completely available to take up a contract/permie job.
Will celebrate now by a trip to Lidls and buying of cheap beer0 -
After I finished Uni I had several temping jobs through agencies, so if you are looking for something short term while you're also looking for permanent work then they may well be able to help - depending on what's currently available in your area.
I registered with Hays Office Support recently and they occasionally texted me for one or two day placements (I didn't accept as I had interviews each time!).
Good luck!
TGWTARNMy advice is to do thorough research - and investigate competitors too if possible!
Well done for getting through to the second stage.
Good luck!

Thanks for the good luckfound out it is on Tuesday, so am going to prepare, prepare. Interesting advise about competitors - I will definitely have a look at this.
I agree you with about after leaving Uni, i was totally at loss at to what I really wanted to do anyway and planning to go travelling the next year, so I tempted afterwards, which was a good introduction into work.
If I don't get a permanent job once I finish at my current employment I will be looking down this route too.
Agencies are very hit and miss, but I also have had good contact with Hays - the consultant spent an hour with me getting ready for an interview, as it was the first one for a long time!0 -

Had 2 interviews this week. First I went to (I applied originally months ago and they e-mailed me saying they really wanted me to apply) - it was quite a paycut (30%) but as it was for charity I applied. Went along it was in a rough area - police cars with sirens on going round at lunchtime and I felt quite nervous at the thought I'ld have to walk round there in the dark. Anyway did the test and interview, seemed to go OK then they phoned me that day. The lady said its not good news, she said you really need to sell yourself better then went through 4 points I was bad at. At least I know but was getting to the point of saying you can stop criticising now. Made me not want to work there anyway.
Then next day I had another 1 hour interview and 30 mins presentation. The place was lovely - lovely people, ideal location, great job, good terms and conditions and half time which would be perfect. Think it will be so competitive though - they said I'll hear by mid next week at the latest and asked how I'ld like to hear. Was interesting there was a middle aged man ahead of me - shows that times are tough as I'm sure he'll really be after full-time.
Other than that nothing out there at the moment - really dead. Good luck to everyone job hunting.0 -
Well had my 13 week interview, nothing much different really happened, I was expecting the advisor to be more stricter with the jobs im applying for.0

Any feedback should be presented sensitively in a constructive manner, sorry to hear that the woman failed to do this. I had a similar phone call two days ago and it made me angry and despondent. Good luck on the second interview, hope you get it!
Applied for a few jobs today but I am sure they are the same jobs being presented through different agencies. Phone has gone quiet and I would like some interviews please0 -
Grrrr im properly pi55ed now. Decided to enquire at budgens who i had interview with other week if there was any news and the reply was "oh sorry, i forgot to call you" so i asked if there was anything i could have done and the reply was "the others had experience". She made a promise to call me back but didnt so why make promises if you dont stick to them. Fairly annoyed, only thing i can think of is that i dont actually have experience of dealing with petrol and a pfs.
You spend X amount of time filling a form in to then get an interview but get turned down due to experience, the whole point of application form is to sell yourself and put anything relelvant to the job on the form.
Just wanted to vent.0 -
