Just back from my third interview of the week it went well but the job will start in September so even if I get it I will have to look for another job because I need to get paid ASAP.0

Had a good day today, nearly completed all of my learn direct exams with 2 practice and 2 exams left and the ones i took today i scored quite highly in the exams i took today. Tomorrow i have an interview for a camping/walking shop which i would accept but it isnt my first choice due to the distance needed to travel but its something.0

Its two bus rides from where I live and so I would probably have to run a car should I get the job. Do you think its OK to ask at the interview if there is a free parking place available - the starting salary isn't great and if I've got to pay for parking I might not be able to afford to work there!
I'm actually excited as I've not had an interview for ages so this means that I am not a complete waste of space!
Congrats on your second interview. I think it would be fine to ask if there is parking there. I wouldn't mention the word free or say anything negative about the salary until after a job offer though when you are in a position to negotiate. Only discuss salary if they raise it. Good luck.0 -
Got 2 interviews and tests next week. Strange how it goes dead for a few weeks then interviews come after each other (the other week I had 3). Very little being advertised that's suitable over the past month or two so hope I get one of these though I am enjoying summer with the children and would like to settle my youngest into school before starting ideally. Good luck to everyone job hunting.0

Chased up the two interviews from last week with promises from the agents that they will ring me back. I bet they won't ring!

I hope its ok for me to join this thread - I was made redundant last month after 13 years with the same company. I was absolutely devastated and as my whole 23 years working life has been in the same industry I don/t know what to do. I have registered with all the online job sites but can/t even see anything that appeals to me. I have thought about Hotel Management or conference and banqueting and have sent some speculative CV and cover letters off but have had 3 rejections already :-(. I know I am at a disadvantage as I only have management experience and not hotel management.
Yesterday I had my first appointment at the job centre for my job seekers allowance claim - i didn/t enjoy that very much !
I am trying to be more positive today and have managed to apply for 2 jobs so will wait and see !If everything happens for a reason - I wish someone would hurry up and tell me the reason !:)0 -

Of course you can join us - welcome to the thread. Its tough out there at the moment so be prepared for rejections. You are doing well finding two jobs to apply for in one day! I think its particularly quiet on the jobs front with it being summer.
With regards to the job centre I hated going at first but now I've got used to it its not too bad. I always follow the advice that I think I read way back in the earlier days of this thread in that I always go smartly dressed, I sit up straight and am always positive. Most of the advisors realise that there are not many jobs about at present and most of them are friendly once they realise you really want to work.
The best piece of advice that I have picked up though is not to become obssessed with jobhunting and spend all day doing it - it will drive you up the wall! I always try to get outside each day, either for a walk or a bike ride on my very old bike.
Good luck with your job hunting and I really hope something turns up soon.0 -

Really good advice, I find myself getting stressed and depressed when I spend all my time jobhunting.
A walk or a cycle ride also relaxes and cheers me and best of all, its also good for the physical health and free;)0 -

Welcome to the forum. I am being made redundant after 20 odd years at the same location. It is really tough at first and I still get stressed about the situation, but think it has been a good experience in that I am more aware of the skills that I can offer. and am now looking forward to a new beginning. Is the company that is making you redundant offering outplacement support?0
